UW System President Kevin Reilly will propose a 5.5 percent increase in tuition for the 2009-2010 school year to the Board of Regents on Thursday, the same increase approved by the Regents the past two years. At the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, that would mean an estimated additional $280 a year per student. The current cost at UWSP for a Wisconsin resident is about $3,100 a semester $3,300 for a Minnesota resident and $6,900 for a non-resident. The increase, if approved, would come at a time where the entire UW System is facing more than $250 million in budget cuts due to the state budget deficit.
