Most of the time our crack team of spy shooters is crisscrossing the globe in search of undiscovered automotive treasures, but it seems that hunt doesn’t occupy all of their time. Our loyal man over at CarPix sent over these images of his friend’s well-modified garden tractor, one that has a distinct Porsche theme. This 911-inspired mower has got small but thoughtful touches like a tachometer housed in an old Porsche oil filter, a free-breathing exhaust, and a fire-extinguisher in case things get a little out of hand in the backyard. There’s no word about whether the small tractor is any faster than a normally equipped one, but it definitely will grab the neighbour’s attention. Schneller! Here are some shots of a little toy that a friend of mine made. Painted in Grand-Prix Weiss with Indischrot details and wheels. Notice the rpm-meter made of an old oil filter from a 911, and the hmm....bigger exhaust pipe. And of course, the fire extinguisher. With this machine it will be more fun to work in the garden. Limited-edition models, showing Porsche’s opposing style, go on sale in October. BY JENS MEINERS The Porsche Boxster and its more expensive fixed-roof version, the Cayman , are cutting through the 300-hp barrier with two limited-edition models to be available globally starting in September. The Boxster S Porsche Design Edition 2 and the Cayman S Sport have clearly distinct characteristics: The Boxster shows up in glamorous attire, while the Cayman rides on Porsche's screaming, oily racing heritage. Both models benefit from a freer-flowing exhaust, which raises power from 295 hp at 6250 rpm to 303 hp at an identical 6250 rpm. But torque remains unchanged at 251 lb-ft between 4400 and 6000 rpm. Performance is unchanged, Porsche says. Both cars will reach 60 mph from a standstill in 5.1 seconds (5.8 with the automatic) and can travel at up to 170 mph (165 with the automatic)—just like the 295-hp base models.
