Via Freep Detroit --One week after pleading guilty to a five-year felony, Monica Conyers faces more legal woes, after a former staffer filed a lawsuit this week alleging the councilwoman threatened to fire her over handwriting, coffee cups and telephone greetings. Shanise Robinson's lawsuit alleges she worked for Conyers for a month in January 2008, and the councilwoman did nothing to stop sexual harassment by another employee, Dale Foster, who is a candidate for the City Council. The Wayne County suit, which seeks unspecified damages, alleges Robinson quit after Conyers threatened to fire her for: Using, or appearing to use, the 'wrong' coffee mug." • Answering the phone using Conyers' title as "council president pro-tem" when Council President Kenneth Cockrel Jr. was overseas. Conyers "concluded that his absence automatically elevated her to the position of council president and that her phone should be answered" with that title, the suit said. • Signing Conyers' signature to a resolution in a "sloppy" manner. A spokeswoman for Conyers, who pleaded guilty to conspiracy to bribery and resigns Monday, couldn't be reached. Foster, who is a defendant in the suit, called Robinson "money hungry."
