Well, here we go again. The freaking soap opera of Beanie Wells is rivaling Brett Farve's last saga. Beanie, as of today, is listed as "doubtful." Look, I feel bad for Wells, but this whole thing is getting so ridiculous, it's border-line insanity. Some points to ponder: is Ohio State's psyche that delicate that the whole team revolves around a running back? Does it matter who is running the ball if the O-line can't block a Penguin or a Bobcat? The significance of his presence in the huddle is not lost, but if an entire team is reliant on one guy to be in the huddle, then they have more problems than you think. I'll spare you the details. ESPN has followed this as closely as the Vince Young story, and frankly, I'm sick of it. Has anyone mentioned Rey Maualuga has a broken finger? NO. Now why is that? Maybe it's because it doesn't make a difference. No. 58 will show up and terrorize with nine fingers, not ten. Maybe this is all a play of gamesmanship? Think about it. It's the first quarter, and the Coliseum is rocking with noise and the Buckeyes, after a three-and-out, have held USC to a three-and-out. Suddenly, as the Buckeyes get the ball on the 20 yard-line after a touchback, a quiet hush envelops the crowd.
