"One can only speculate as to what the reaction of those killed in two world wars in defence of this country would be to the fact that this gaggle now strolling down the road have contrived to reward the vociferous Islamic population of this historic English town with a giant Mosque and 'Pakistani' village." Simon Darby, deputy leader of the BNP and PA to Richard Barnbrook at City Hall, reports on his visit to Dudley for the Remembrance Day parade. Simon Darby's Blog, 9 November 2008 ...

(By JAN M. OLSEN, Associated Press Writer) Two men who were secretly filmed mixing the type of explosive used in the 2005 London transit bombing were convicted on Tuesday of preparing a terrorist attack. Hammad Khuershid, a Danish citizen of Pakistani origin, and Abdoulghani Tokhi, an Afghan, were sentenced to 12 and seven years in prison, respectively. They were arrested in an anti-terror sweep last year after Danish agents filmed them conducting a small test blast with triacetone triperoxide, which was used by the suicide bombers who killed 52 British commuters. During the trial, prosecutors said Khuershid had links to an al-Qaida operative. The prosecutors said it was not clear whether Khuershid and Tokhi were preparing an attack in Denmark or abroad. Denmark has repeatedly been threatened by Islamic extremists after the uproar triggered by cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad that were first published in Danish newspapers in 2005. Investigators found handwritten bomb-making manuals in the men's homes that prosecutors said Khuershid had copied at the pro-Taliban Red Mosque in Islamabad. They said he also had spent time in the Pakistani region of Waziristan, a militant stronghold near the Afghan border. Khuershid has admitted he was in Waziristan, but denies receiving any military training. Khuershid and Tokhi had pleaded innocent and said the explosive was to be used for fireworks. They sat motionless as the City Court in Glostrup ...

This is the perfect opening for a Joe Biden-esque line of attack tonight so tone-deaf, silly, and sexist as to overshadow the rest of the debate. "You see, this Sarah Palin is nothing but trouble. Her good looks and flagrant skirt-wearing are already the cause of international incidents. How can she possibly be expected to lead in a world filled with backward religious fanatics whose every custom we must respect (as long as they're not backward, Christian fanatics, which I hasten to remind you is exactly what Sarah Palin is!)." Asif Ali Zardari is in trouble with a radical Islamic leader: Islamic religious leaders in Pakistan have issued a fatwa against President Asif Ali Zardari for allegedly flirting with Sarah Palin when the two met at the United Nations last week during her meet-and-greet with foreign leaders, India's Daily News reported. Cleric Maulana Abdul Ghafar, a prayer leader at radical Mosque Lal Masjid, condemned Zardari's "indecent gestures" toward Palin as a disgrace to all of Pakistan. Zardari's "filthy remarks and repeated praise of a non-Muslim lady wearing a short skirt" was unbecoming of a head of state of a Muslim country, Ghafar said during a sermon, according to the Daily News. Zardari has also drawn criticism from the Pakistani press and the nation's feminists, who blasted the president for calling Palin "gorgeous." Lal Masjid is the "Red Mosque" besieged by Pakistani forces in 2007, and Ghafar a close rel ...

(By SAEED SHAH, McClatchy Newspapers) An American aid worker overseeing a high-profile U.S. development program for Pakistan's tribal area was gunned down Wednesday in the northwest city of Peshawar in what's thought to be the first targeted killing of a Westerner in the current campaign of violence by Islamic extremists. Stephen Vance, a contractor to the government development agency, the U.S. Agency for International Development, was shot dead along with his Pakistani driver on his way from his home to his office. He was living in Peshawar with his wife and five children. An armored car saved Lynne Tracy, a U.S. diplomat whose vehicle was attacked in Peshawar in August, but Vance didn't have one. Islamic militants are thought to have attacked Tracy and Vance. The assassination came as a wave of bombings, kidnappings and hijackings continued to grip Pakistan's volatile northwest. The violence has spread across the country since summer last year, when Islamists began an insurrection after government security forces stormed a radical Mosque in the capital, Islamabad. Police found seven spent shells at the site of Vance's killing, investigating police Officer Abdul Qadir said. He said police had sent the bodies for autopsies. Vance, 52, was a native Californian, with relatives in Santa Cruz. He'd arrived in Peshawar when the project began six months ago, according to an official of the company for which Vance worked, CHF Internat ...

The NEFA Foundation has obtained a video recording from an emerging Palestinian Al-Qaida faction based in the Gaza Strip, Jaish al-Ummah ("The Army of the Islamic Nation"), claiming responsibility for rocket attacks on the town of Ashkelon and other Israeli targets on November 14, 2008 . The video includes footage of the purported launch of the rockets, and a statement read by two masked militants in front of the official banner used by Al-Qaida's "Islamic State of Iraq" (ISI). The spokesmen indicated that the rocket bombardment, labeled "The Battle of Abdul Rashid Ghazi", had been carried out in honor of the late head cleric at Lal Masjid (a.k.a. "The Red Mosque") in Islamabad, Pakistan. Ghazi was killed on July 10, 2007 during a raid on the besieged Islamabad Mosque by Pakistani military forces. During their recorded communiqué, the two Jaish al-Ummah militants also hailed the victories of their fellow "brethren" in various other locales, including Somalia, Iraq, and Afghanistan. The video can be viewed on the NEFA Foundation website . ...
