"Family Night is a wonderful experience for children and their families," said Packers President/CEO Mark Murphy. "Every child deserves a Family and this event is a natural setting for us to demonstrate our proud support of our partners' comprehensive commitments to adoption and foster care." The Dave Thomas Foundation created Wendy's Wonderful Kids to move thousands of children into supportive and comforting adoptive homes. Understanding that adoptive families need critical support after an adoption takes place, Jockey International launched its corporate citizenship initiative, <a href="http:.. ... GREEN BAY, Wis. -- 1. The ego has landed. Brett Favre is in Green Bay and the attendant coverage of his arrival was ... breathless. Said one desk jockey as Favre exited his private plane, "Can you believe what we're seeing?!" 2. There was helicopter coverage of Favre's commute from the airport to a Green Bay area home (not sure if it was his or not). He was in an Escalade, not a white Bronco. 3. The Packers can't catch a break this week. Their Family Night inside Lambeau Field was delayed an hour by thunderstorms. Packer backers had to be told to get off the aluminum bleachers while lightning crackled above. Repeat, they had to be TOLD to get off the metal bleachers while lightning was striking. 4. Hoping to get Aaron Rodgers after the Family Night practice. 5. Ryan Grant is in uniform but hasn't yet been on the field. The Packers lead running back signed a new deal yesterday. ... Green Bay -- An NFL source told the Journal Sentinel the Packers could get a first-round pick from the New York Jets in the deal for quarterback Brett Favre, however, it was unclear what would have to occur for that to happen. NFL Network is now reporting that Favre would have to play 80 percent of the Jets' snaps this season and make it to the Super Bowl. The pick starts out as a fourth-rounder, but jumps up to a third if Favre plays 50% of the Jets' snaps. It becomes a second if he plays 70% of the snaps and the Jets qualify for the playoffs. The Jets released this statement: "I am looking forward to seeing Brett Favre in a New York Jets uniform," said Chairman/CEO Woody Johnson. "He represents a significant addition to this franchise, and reflects our commitment to putting the best possible product on the field. Mike Tannenbaum and his football administration staff did a great job of navigating this complex process. I am excited about welcoming Brett, Deanna and their Family to the Jets organization." ... For Green Bay's rookie players and other newcomers, tomorrow night's scrimmage as part of "Packers Family Night" at Lambeau Field will go down as one of the most memorable experiences of their careers. Wide receiver Donald Driver, entering his 10th season, the longest tenure on the team of any player on the roster, can attest to the lasting memories that the night will provide. "I always remember that one," Driver said of his first Family Night. "I would never forget. Coming out of the old locker room, I remember Brett (Favre) telling me that there is going to be more people here than I ever had at Alcorn State, and I was like, 'Aw, yeah right, whatever.' Then I walked out and saw 60,000-plus. It was amazing." Head Coach Mike McCarthy said the format for Sunday night's scrimmage will be similar to last year, with the first-team offense facing off against the second-team defense, and then the second offensive unit will square off with the defensive starters... ... Rookie wide receiver Jordy Nelson is going through his first training camp in the NFL, and Packers.com will check in with him periodically the next few weeks to get his thoughts and experiences in this training camp diary. Nelson was a consensus All-America selection at Kansas State, and was one of three finalists for the Biletnikoff Award in 2007. He posted school records as a senior with 122 receptions for 1,606 yards after beginning his career with the Wildcats as a walk-on safety. I didn't really feel that nervous on Sunday for the Family Night scrimmage because it was more of a practice-type deal, but I think there will obviously be some nerves when we go out there Monday and play a real game. I haven't really thought about Monday night that much. We've been progressing through the playbook, and to be honest with you, it seems like it has gotten here kind of faster than I thought it would.
