Danny Granger could taste the W against the Hawks. (Photo by Ron Hoskins/NBAE via Getty Images) The Indiana Pacers came out fresh and ready to attack the Atlanta Hawks from the opening tip Tuesday night. By being the aggressor most of the night, the Pacers were able to take an early lead and hold it throughout the game to seal the 113-96 win. T.J. Ford set the tempo from the opening tip, literally, as he scored on a little runner at the hoop to open the game. The offense was pushing the pace, moving the ball, getting good looks near the hoop. Jim O'Brien stayed away from small ball tonight and his big fellas made him look like a genius. Rasho Nesterovic, Jeff Foster and Troy Murphy put up a huge combined effort. Danny Granger came out real aggressive in the first quarter. After missing a game and then struggling in the next two games, Granger was rested and ready to go and it showed. He attacked the hoop from the get go and was real active all over the court including a couple of nasty blocks of Hawk layup attempts. Danny played the role of team leader starting big and finishing strong. His 34 points was a season best and included 10 points scored over the final five minutes to help put the game on ice. Real efficient efffort, too, making 13 of 18 FGAs (4-5 from 3 land) along with all 4 free throws. If you're like me, you may be asking where this effort from Danny was during the last two games. Well, Danny was coming off a littl ...

Indy Star columnist and 1070 The Fan afternoon radio host, Bob Kravitz mentioned over the summer that if Jamaal TInsley was still with the Pacers when training camp ended that he (Kravitz) would walk to Kokomo. Well, after some haggling over the technical issues, like Tinsley is in Atlanta and not with the team but he is on the roster, Kravitz started his walk today. But since he found a sympathetic state trooper to shoot down the idea of walking up US-31, he's doing the mileage on a treadmill at the Emmis studios over the next few days. He will walk the final mile up in Kokomo, though. Fortunately, they turned the event into a fund raiser and even found celebrities to join him for shifts on the treadmill. 1070 The Fan has live video streaming on their website so you can see Kravitz laboring on his way to Kokomo...sort of. Hopefully Larry Bird will work out some kind of trade or buyout of Tinsley on Thursday afternoon and announce it as Kravitz is rolling into Kokomo. ...

Here are some items of interest to ponder while waiting for the game tonight: Kevin Lee reports from practice that Jim O'Brien is stressing fundamentals. Travis Diener was rehabbing with Mike Dunleavy. Also, the Pacers served up their Thanksgiving dinner for area shelters since they will be out of town next week. Mike Wells has more on JOB's focus on fundamentals yesterday. Boxing out and jump stopping before passing (hello, Jarrett) received special attention. "It's everything we've been working on since the first day of practice," O'Brien said. "Nothing has changed. We're just not consistently executing the fundamentals of the game of basketball. The same fundamentals that every team no matter what age is working on. Proper passing, proper screening, reversing the basketball, defensive stance." Looks like Flip Murray picked up where he left off last year for the Pacers. He's now coming off the bench to heat up the Atlanta Hawks' offense. Seems like a perfect fit for Flip and the numbers don't lie. He's bringing about 13 points a game with him off the bench. Former Pacers beat writer, Sekou Smith wonders if the talented young Hawks can develop the consistency to match the success of the 2003-04 Pacer team he followed that won 61 games. Pacers Fantasy Forecast advises fantasy hoopsters on the current situation for the Pacers and the impact on fantasy numbers. ...

@ 6-3 4-5 November 18, 2008 - 7:00PM EST Conseco Fieldhouse  Radio:  1070AM WFNI    TV: Fox Sports Indiana Probable starters: Mike Bibby PG T.J. Ford Joe Johnson SG Marquis Daniels Maurice Evans SF Danny Granger Marvin Williams PF Troy Murphy Al Horford C Rasho Nesterovic The Indiana Pacers face a strong test at home Tuesday night against the Atlanta Hawks. After struggling through two losses in a row, the Pacers face another young, athletic team similar to the lineup Philadelphia used to comeback against the Pacers last Friday. The Pacers have to take care of the ball and team up on the glass. This will be a great test to see how this team reacts to a little adversity. The thin margin of error the Pacers work within has been evident in each game so far. If they take care of their business the Pacers can stay on the court with any team and have a good chance to secure a W. If not, regardless of the opponent, they will struggle to win. Here's a look at the matchups plus a nice addition to the pre-game lineup. Bruno is the Emeril Lagasse of NBA team site directors, kickin' it up a notch with a  video  scouting report showing interviews with Jim O'Brien, T.J. Ford and Danny Granger talking about the challenges the Hawks present. Nice to have a couple of days between games. Oh, and I'm just going to pretend I didn't see the part about T.J. Ford, a sore neck and a game-time decision. I'd rather not think about Quisy being pressed i ...
