Jesień w pełni, ale Sony nie śpi. Blog PlayStation właśnie zapowiedział nowe uaktualnienia Firmware'u (PS3 2.50 i PSP 5.00). W przypadku PS3 obeszło się bez rewolucji - dodano jedynie wsparcie trybu High Quality zestawu słuchawkowego SOCOM Bluetooth i kilka opcji zarządzania energią . Natomiast PSP otrzymała PlayStation Store w wersji WiFi z możliwością ściągania gier, trailerów i dem . Sony has unveiled the latest Firmware updates for its two flagship systems and both bring with them a wealth of useful additions. Most importantly, the PlayStation 3's 2.50 Firmware update finally allows for background downloading on the system, bringing it in line with the Xbox 360. Now, instead of letting your console idle while downloading game demos or videos, you can turn the console off, walk away and the system will continue its task without you. Less necessary (but still a worthy addition) is the PS3's in-game screenshot ability. Once players have installed the 2.50 Firmware, players can capture and share scenes from a select group of games. Unfortunately, leaving this up to each game's developers to implement means it will be as widely supported as Sony's Trophy system (that is, maybe a handful of games will take advantage of it). The 5.00 Firmware update for the PlayStation Portable is a bit less notable, but handheld fans should still be pleased with the additions (unless they're devotees of the PSP's homebrewed software scene). Key additions include a new PlayStation Store button added directly to the handheld's dashboard and a full-screen keyboard. One wonders why Sony would go to the trouble of altering their keyboard when an actual keyboard peripheral is on the way to the handheld, but at least those of you who don't want to spring for another gadget will be able to type a bit more easily. Sony has added a number of new features and a few improvements on current PSP and PS3 features with its latest Firmware updates, due for release in the very near future. Firstly, PSP v5.00 update adds the PlayStation Network icon on the XMB, enabling users to sign up, manage their account and access the PlayStation Store (and, more importantly, buy games and download free demos) directly from the PSP via Wi-Fi. You can use your PlayStation Network account details on both your PS3 and PSP. Finally, PSP update v5.00 adds a sleep timer option to be used while you are playing music on your PSP and a full screen keyboard option for text entry. PS3 Firmware version 2.5 Sony has also released details for the next PS3 Firmware update - version 2.5, which will allow gamers grab in-game screens, then upload them to a server to show off to their mates.
