With just a week to go before the E3 games show, there's bound to be a lot of speculation, which is why I'm somewhat unsure about this being the much-rumoured motion-sensing Controller for the PS3. Peripherals maker, Just Play listed this 'JPG-9003 PS3 2.4GHz Wireless Handgun', photographed [Photoshopped?] with a new looking PS3 remote - which just happens to look very like a blacked-up Wiimote. That said, maybe this is the real deal, sitting snugly in this gun peripheral. Sounds to good to be true and, for what it's worth, the design looks pretty basic. Here's what Just Play say about the Wireless Handgun: --- Compatible with PS3 console --- Supports all PS3 gun fighting games --- Supports multi-loop signals without any interference for many players playing simultaneously --- Force signal connect --- Combines PS3 Controller with gun stand for enhancing the operation --- Can be easily dismantled to use as PS3 wireless Controller --- 2 x AAA alkaline batteries can provide at least 10 hours power continuously --- Working distance is up to 10m --- Auto scan function between the gun and receiver We'll be keeping an eye on this one as the week rolls on and, if true, PS3 owners might soon have a swinging remote that'll break their TVs too.-Martin Lynch [Just Play via PS3 Fanboy] console PS3 games ... A month ago we mentioned a rumor about Sony developing its own awesome transforming, motion-sensitive Controller - and now the rumor seems to be shaping up into reality. The internet rumor mill has it that this mysterious PS3 Controller can "break apart" into two separate components, each outfitted with an accelerometer that will enable motion-sensitivity. However, there are also some reports going around that this certain "break apart" design isn't entirely the case. An anonymous source informed Kotaku that the core of the Controller is a small device that is intended to be attached to the player's body, and works in conjunction with other devices. You could say it's like motion-controllers worn on the hands or even the feet, perhaps. Of course, Sony hasn't responded to any questions or inquiries concerning this tidbit, but we may very well expect an official announcement - including solid facts about this mysterious Controller - in the upcoming E3 event. Expect updates as they come! ... Source: www.qj.net --- 49 days ago
Last year, some of you guys may recall that Benjamin J. Heckendorn (aka Ben Heck) had begun work on an experimental one-handed Controller for the PlayStation 3 . It was still in the pre-production phase then, and was planned to be put into mass production by eDimensional .com. That said, Ben Heck is happy to report that the manufacturer is now nearing the Controller's manufacturing stage. Close enough, it seems, that you can now pre-order the unit. Much like its early conception, the production version of the Access Controller will enable its users to interchange its five button modules according to their personal taste. The unit's been confirmed for the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, and PCs, and will sell for US 129.95. Those interested in making their reservations will want to visit eDimentional's site via the source link below. ... Source: www.joystiq.com --- 41 days ago
Filed under: Sony PlayStation 3 Note: please don't actually try this GamesIndustry.biz is reporting that Sony already has a third Controller for PlayStation 3 in the works, one that will split into two parts for Wii-like remote / nunchuk style motion control gameplay. The site cites unnamed sources for their information on the device, which they claim is already in the hands of some PS3 developers, and may be unveiled at next month's E3 summit. This "break apart" design, if real, certainly sounds a lot like one of the early prototype Wii controllers Nintendo was toying with before settling on the more simple remote concept. Kotaku has their own version of the rumor , in which it's not a Controller, but a set of sensors one places on their body. We'll be the first to speculate that neither is correct! Instead, the new Controller is like one of those beer can hats, only you place two Dual Shock 3 pads in it. We've put in a call for comment from Sony, but have yet to hear back. If you're one of the "close development partners" who supposedly has one of these pads in-house, feel free to drop us a line . We'd love to chat. [ Update : SCEA's hardware PR rep, Patrick Seybold, got back to us with the following: "We haven't made any announcement of such a product, and anything circulating is purely rumor and speculation."] [Via PS3 Fanboy ] Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments ...
