Rasmussen has published a new poll which shows that 53% of adults in America believe it is important for the U.S.to win the most medals in the Olympics. Of those polled, 19% believe it is “very important.” This just confirms what I have always believed: The American revolution was a bad idea, because democracy doesn’t work. Votes in the hands of these surveyed voters cannot be taken seriously, and should not be counted in presidential elections. Not only is it unimportant for Americans to win the most medals in the Olympics, it is arguably important for them not to win the most. People of the world hate monopolistic winners. Look at what happened to the sport of softball. The U.S. has won every gold medal in the sport’s brief history, and so the International Olympic Committee decided to dump the event starting in 2012. This isn’t fair, because softball happens to be a worthy and relatively watchable event by the low standards of the Summer Games. But it is a simple object lesson to us all: If you lose once in a while, it makes for a more unified planet. And if you win too much, it’s usually because of illegal drugs, anyway. Traditional medals factories such as East Germany, China and, yes, U.S. track and field are viewed internationally as outlaw programs. So if Rasmussen or Gallup calls you up, tell the pollster that you hope China and Russia win their share of golds. Maybe you will help to stop the vicious, obsessive win-at-all-cos ... Andrew Mickey submits: The Fed will meet once again today. No one knows for sure what the outcome will be, but considering the current state of the markets, they’re not likely to make any drastic moves. If the Fed stays in line and it does as expected, their actions (“inaction” would probably be more appropriate) could propel one sector 30% to 40% higher in a matter of days. In this case, it has happened before. Complete Story » ... Source: seekingalpha.com --- 3 days ago

Marc Courtenay submits: Thursday evening, before I went to bed here on the west coast of the US, I decided to look at the current PRECIOUS METALS spot prices in Asia. Big mistake and a good thing I have a prescription of AMBIEN CR from my doctor which I occasionally use. Silver had plunged over 10% in one session as was trading around $12.75 an ounce, and gold had broken down below $795. The US dollar was rallying even more (based on what I can not say for sure), and the rumors are floating around that central banks are propping up the dollar for some strange reasons.
