MadShrimps has a report on MSIs 2008 European Overclocking Challenge. There were teams from all over the Europe, hardware galore and 970 liters of liquid nitrogen on standby, what else could you ask for? It looked like everyone involved had a lot of fun. Everyone was willing to help out, even if we made the weirdest requests such as toilet paper to serve as insulation. The MSI crew (and the Tweakers.net crew) helped out with filling the LN² dewars and made the event easy for the overclockers. Big, big congratulations towards them. Comments ... From our front-page news:At an Intel briefing today, we learned a lot more about what to expect when benchmarking Nehalem, and much of it answered the exact questions that have been lingering in my mind for some time. If you read our overview on Nehalem (http://techgage.com/article/idf_08_sf_intel_reveals_more_about_nehalem/) already, then you know the benefits of the tri-channel memory, but what about Overclocking? First and foremost, while the 'ideal' memory configuration for a high-end Yorkfield is 2x1GB DDR3-1600, the ideal solution for Nehalem will be 3x1GB DDR3-1066. Seems weak, but... ...
