Brea, California ~ A day trip around town in Brea can be like a visit to your favorite gallery. The city's art program known as "Art in Public Places"  began in 1975 and has continued throughout the years up until today. As development took place in our city each developer contributed to the citizens of Brea  and those who visit, art work, in large part sculptures around town that we all enjoy daily. One of my favorites I pass daily, just a few blocks from home, it's the popular "Jumping Deer" at the corner Berry and Northwood. The neighborhood location of "Jumping Deer" is at the base of the hills and (I'm told) the sculpture is reminiscent of an occasional nearby deer, although in truth I've never seen a live one here. At holiday time you could see a red nose on the one on the far left, the adopted Rudolph so-to-speak. It was a favorite place for the annual photo for the Christmas card. At this point, that's not encouraged. The sculpture has been repaired several times and MIA once (shipped back to the artist) after mis-guided vehicles failed to negotiate the normally easy left-turn. Not that I'm in any sense of the words an art critic, I just know what I like. Some pieces are a throw-back to early settlers in the area. Others are...well shall I say a little more impressionistic? The piece on the left is titled "Roughnecks" it's located at the entrance to a commercial and light industrial park. Brea was once known as an oil town ev ...

This past January, nearly 600 people gathered at a nightclub in a Las Vegas hotel to watch as Orange County Choppers — one of the country’s best-known custom bike builders — unveiled its latest creation. Now, shoppers at Rowe Photographic in Rochester have an opportunity to see the “Klipsch Chopper” for themselves. The 10-foot long, 600-pound, custom-built motorcycle will be on display at Rowe’s Mt. Hope Avenue location until Oct. 20. Like every OCC chopper, the Klipsch bike is unique. It is copper and black — the signature colors of the legendary 62-year-old audio company — and has horn and woofer assemblies, an iPod dock as well as Klipsch logos on the air filter and black leather seat. “We customize theme bikes for lots of different companies, but this one is second to none,” said Paul Teutul Sr., co-founder of the family-run OCC. “It really incorporates Klipsch’s standards of high-performance, high-quality audio into a truly unique ride.” Teutul runs the New York-based company with his son. The choppers’ shop is featured weekly on “American Chopper,” a reality television show about custom motorcycle building that airs on The Learning Channel. According to Rich Ciaraldi, manager at Rowe Photographic, the bike was built in part to help promote Klipsch’s new line of high-end loudspeakers, called Palladiums. “Klipsch has been talking about making this type of unique speaker for 10 years and now they have unique motorcycle to go w ...

Well, this was a last min. booking and we had originally tried for a 2* for $35 but didn't get it. I didn't really have much budge room due to not trying the best way the first try and didn't want to chance going too low. One night stay. One thing to note - when I called to request nonsmoking and 2 beds - ESA charges a $15 upgrade fee for a 2 bed (2 fulls) room (the standard room is 1 queen I guess). I wish I had known this before being locked in, but... ...
