LONDON (MarketWatch) -- Intel Corp. said in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission Friday that it expects to take a restructuring and asset impairment charge of $250 million in the second quarter. The company recorded $329 million of restructuring and impairment charges in the first quarter, including an additional asset impairment charge of $275 million related to flash memory assets sold to Numonyx. Intel, STMicroelectronics ja Francisco Partners ovat ilmoittaneet saaneensa Numonyx-nimisen itsenäisen yhteisyrityksen liiketoiminnan käyntiin. Kyseessä on NOR- ja NAND-flash-muistituotteita suunnitteleva, kehittävä ja valmistava yritys, josta kuultiin ensimmäisen kerran toukokuussa 2007, kun Intel ja STMicroelectronics paljastivat suunnitelmansa.Intel omistaa yrityksestä 45,1 ja STMicroelectronics 48,6 prosenttia, ja jäljelle jäävä 6,3 prosentin siivu jää Francisco Partnersille 150 miljoonan dollarin investointeja vastaan. Intel siirtää koko NOR-muistibisneksen sekä osan PCM-kehityksestä (Phase Change Memory) Numonyxille, kun taas STMicroelectronics siirtää suuremman markkinaosuuden myötä lisäksi myös NAND-tuotantonsa uuden yrityksen vastuulle.Numonyx saa 450 miljoonaa dollaria lainarahoitusta Intesa Sanpaolo S.p.A:lta ja Unicredit Banca d’Impresa S.p.A:lta sekä lisäksi 100 miljoonaa dollaria luottosopimuksena.
