Placelessness Alina Simone ★★★ Son nom ne vous dis peut-être rien, Alina Simone fait dans le folk Indie, avec un univers musical quelque part entre PJ Harvey et Cat Power. Elle a sortie un album au nom de "Placelessness" où dès les premières notes du titre d'ouverture nous nous sentons en terrain connu. " Saw Edged Grass " le second titres, accords minimalistes, jolie voix folk, l'ambiance est épurée au maximum. La faiblesse d'Alina Simone et de son album réside justement dans cette difficultée à se distinguer de ses deux grands artistes que sont Cat Power et PJ Harvey. Sa force, une voix vraiment belle aux intonations entêtantes et quelques mélodies dont ce "Pacifica" qui restent vraiment dans la tête. " Placelessness" est un album qui s'apprivoise. Il est très court, dix titres pour moins de 35mn de musique. Les premiers titres sont vraiment dans cette lignée folk rock américaine. Je suis séduis mais ne peut m'empêcher de penser à Chan Marshall et à cette petite fêlure en moins chez Alina, ce petit quelque chose qui empêche l'album de vraiment décoller, ce je ne sais quoi qui fait la différence... Un album calme et reposant, minimaliste, qui plaira aux amateurs du genre mais aussi aux néophytes. . "Refugees" est particulièrement réussit. Son seul malheur à Alina est de sortir son album après d'illustres songwriters du folk-rock us. Des chansons qui fleurent bon le Sud des Etats-Unis, la campagne, les grandes étendues.
