Forum: Autodesk 3ds max Posted By: amv256 Post Time: 08-05-2008 at 02:29 AM Text: I'm using Max 9 and currently running on 32-bit XP. I'm looking to slowly start building a render farm, although with the purchase of only one machine at first, it will simply be a dedicated render PC until I buy some siblings for it to play with. Since I'm starting with just one New box, does anyone have any recommendations on where to buy good, pre-built machines that would work effectively as full-time render boxes? I built my current PC from scratch but do NOT have the time or patience to do that again at the moment. I'm extremely busy and just need something shipped to my house that I can plug in, install Max on, and start rendering with. A couple specific questions: - Is Max 9 usable on 32-bit Vista? I'm not ready to upgrade to 2008 or beyond at the moment, but all pre-built PCs are pretty much Vista only these days. - Does anyone have any specific vendor recommendations? I've got a duo quad core from HP with 2 GB RAM (enough for 32-bit for me) that basically matches my current system for about $800. Any better price points/vendors that anyone can recommend for comparable Hardware? Like I said, since it'll be a while before I have anything approaching a "farm", I want this first purchase to be a decent stand-alone computer that I can just have rendering all day while I keep working on my current workstation. Thanks! ... Source: www.moreover.com --- 2 days ago
