It is not very nice if every volume of yours mounts as "Disk" or is listed as XXGB Media in Nautilus. In Windows and MacOS you can change Volume labels like folder names. Why not in Nautilus? The average user will not open a teminal an do "e2label device " Even i have to google the command every time i need it, so i dont change my disk labels often. Most gnome software that has tabs allow to extract certain tab into a new window just by dragging the tab into a free space of a screen. For example, gedit and gnome-terminal acts in this way. Often I find myself in a situation where I need to convert e.g. a .odt file to .doc so I can hand it in at school. Currently you have to open OpenOffice.org and use 'Save As' to export it to a different file type. Other examples are images and archives. A solution would be to add a submenu to the contextmenu of each file called 'Convert' whenever the file can be converted. That submenu contains a list of possible new filetypes you can choose to convert too. The Nautilus plugin then uses a converter, which can be easily changed by using a pluggable interface.
