I like to think I’m a good mom. I know that my eight-year-old son, Dylan, takes ballroom dancing and piano lessons in large part because it makes me happy. (OK, if he really hated them, I would let him do something else). So when a friend of mine heard about a wrestling extravaganza called The Great American Bash, I figured it was time to do something that would make Dylan really happy — and I knew I would score some major cool mom points by taking him, his seven-year-old buddy Edward, and Edward's mom, to the show. The Bash, held at the Nassau Coliseum on Sunday, was definitely a hot ticket, selling out 14,000 seats in just 45 minutes back in May. Never mind that all I know about wrestling could fit on the head of a pin. And never mind that I’m pretty much on the prim side of, say, Charlotte from Sex and the City. I could do this, I told myself. I could totally hang with the boys and not seem like the Church Lady from SNL. As we were waiting on the security line, I noticed there were some clearly defined groups. About five or six young men had caps and T-shirts with the words “Cena Sucks” on it. After a few minutes, an older man came up to them smiling, holding the sign “JBL Sucks.” They eyeballed each other for a few seconds, nodding and smiling warily, but no verbal smackdowns ensued. That was quite a civil exchange, I thought. I was encouraged. The show, which featured stars from RAW, ECW, and Smackdown (and aired on Pay-Per- ...

It was just minutes before the start of the Dragons' season finale against Philadelphia yesterday at Nassau Coliseum, and there was coach Weylan Harding on the Jumbotron with two days' growth on his face, saying something about evaluating several hundred players, making roster cuts, and returning the team back to its rightful place as one of the elite franchises in Arena Football. ...

Inside the Nassau Coliseum Sunday night, World Wrestling Entertainment fans witnessed a "Fatal Four Way" tag team battle, a "Divas" championship match and a "New York City Parking Lot Brawl."But some of the night's wildest action took place just outside the arena when two fans assaulted a WWE crew member -- biting and hitting him with a bottle -- as the staffer tried to stop the Lindenhurst men from getting away with two stolen commemorative chairs, police said. ...

UNIONDALE, N.Y. — Ted Nolan's return to NHL coaching ended after only two years Monday when he split with the Islanders over "philosophical differences" with general manager Garth Snow. Although there had been a growing rift throughout last season between Nolan and Snow, the somewhat surprising midsummer move was made after a morning meeting at Nassau Coliseum before the opening of a rookie training camp. "The process for me was something that took a lot of time to come to terms with," Snow... ...

So! Tomorrow I'll be at the Warped Tour, which brings its traveling road show to the parking lot of Nassau Coliseum, home of the Islanders and the very first concert I saw. While there are some acts that I'm definitely excited to see (The Academy Is..., Against Me!, a couple of other acts that don't have any punctuation in their name) and some that will be a fine excuse for a smoothie break (Katy [insert swear word here] Perry), there are also many that I don't really know too much about or at least don't have much of a bearing on beyond a glimpse in a TV ad. But I figure some members of Idolator's collective hive mind probably have opinions on at least a few of the bands on tomorrow's roster, so why not throw the floor open? The full lineup for the show I'll be sweating out after the jump. ORESKABAND 3oh!3 Against Me! In honor of WWE's Great American Bash Sunday at Nassau Coliseum . . . WWE diva Stacy Keibler is selling more of her used clothing on eBay. In some of the listings, she even calls herself WWE diva Stacy Keibler, which is kind of amusing seeing that the diva title is more of a dig than an honor. So anyway, among Stacy's offerings this week is her lovely "Black & White Zebra Swim Suit trimmed in HOT PINK !!" featured in the Aug., 2002, RAW Magazine and 2003 WWE Mini Magazine. When I looked at this listing earlier this morning while searching for things that might amuse our Final Score readers, there were 60 bids and the thing was up to $460, from her opening price of $150. Is this like a cross between the Rocky Horror Picture Show and Weird Science, where crazed WWE fans buy Stacy's undies and wear them on their head to Wrestlemania? Does she wash them before selling? (One of eBay's anti-pervert rules disallows listings involving unwashed used clothing, but how can they monitor this?) I wanted to give her some credit for smart marketing but that quickly changed to pandering-creepy after seeing another listing, entitled "STACY KEIBLER'S Fringed Wrap from Photo Shoot." We know where that's been, and she knows that we know where that's been, and that's pretty much all I have to say. Except for this: One of the featured matches in Sunday's Bash at the Coliseum is an NYC Parking Lot Brawl between John Cena and JBL. I just hope that they w ...

-Courtesy of the AFL #6 NEW YORK DRAGONS (9-8) AT #1 PHILADELPHIA SOUL (13-3) For the first time in AFL postseason history, the #6 New York Dragons (9-8) make the 95-mile trek to the Wachovia Center to face the #1 Philadelphia Soul (13-3) in game two of Saturday’s doubleheader on Russell Athletic ESPN Arena Football Saturday, July 5 at 7 p.m. ET (ESPN HD, ESPN360.com, SIRIUS Radio – Channel 127) in a National Conference matchup. Philadelphia enters the playoffs for the third consecutive season and is the number one seed for the first time in team history. The Soul is also hosting its first Divisional Round playoff contest and finished the regular season winning its final three games for the first time in team history. Philadelphia swept the season series against New York in 2008 for the first time in team history. The Soul won both contests by an average of 25 points, which included a 59-30 Week 17 victory at Nassau Coliseum. The victory clinched the Soul’s first Mitsubishi Motors Eastern Division title along with the League’s best record and the overall top seed in the playoffs. Philadelphia can become the 16th team to defeat another team three times in a single season with a victory on Saturday. This is the second consecutive season the Soul have faced a team in both its final regular-season game and its first postseason contest. Philadelphia defeated Orlando in consecutive weeks in 2007 (Week 17, Wild Card Round). After beginni ...
