Filed under: Software Oh, what's this, NTT DOCOMO? Your eye movement control for phones -- which isn't even commercialized, may we add -- is so 2050 compared to NeuroSky's mind control system. The company has already shown non-mobile applications for its seriously sci-fi tech, but it used CTIA recently as a venue to demonstrate how it can be used to do cool things on phones, too, bringing along a mental relaxation app, a math quiz where your brainpower is actually measured (no pressure), and a simple game. There aren't any shipping products yet, but the company says that it has nine development partners working on integrating its goods, and meanwhile it's slaving away on repackaging the discrete components translating brainwaves into commands into a single chip that's more easily soldiered onto something consumers would actually want to wear and use. Folks living in Japan will be able to get hold of the Sony Ericsson SO-01A from NTT DOCOMO, and this candybar handset features a flip-style form factor that will feature different functions depending on the way you're using it at the moment. On one side we have a regular keypad and a smaller display, but turn the phone over to the other side and you're greeted with what looks like a full touch screen display. Guess getting a protective case for this handset is going to get rather tricky. Add a comment | From: NTT DOCOMO Gets Sony Ericsson SO-01A | Visit Ubergizmo | Good deals ...

Well you’ve seen the video, what do you think? Do you actually need this feature embedded in your current smartphone. As you might already know there are various mini-projectors to choose from and we did show them to you earlier on. I could think of lots of reasons for not having a DLP projector inside my phone but then NTT DOCOMO will tell you otherwise. It looks like the Japanese carrier has a DLP phone projector which would use a LED light source in order to project a 20-25 inch image across the room. How many time will you say “Wait honey, I have the projector with me! I know it’s somewhere inside this phone. Sure we can look at all those wedding photos… again!” Related Posts Explay OiO the First Real Pocket Nano-projector on dispaly at SID 2007 Israeli company Explay displayed the oio at a press conference at SID 2007 in Long Beach, Californi... NTT DOCOMO is ready to offer its Japanese subscribers a new phone. The Sony Ericsson SO-10A is quite the smartphone. At least its design is worth talking about. Depending on what you want to do, you can choose which side you want to view. One sides has a keypad and a smaller display, like in the picture here but the other side has a full toushscreen display ready for some serious action. Now that’s a phone I’d want to check out! Unfortunately we don’t have any pricing details yet. But then again, you aren’t going to Japan anytime soon right? At CEATAC Japan 2008, NTT DOCOMO Inc. introduced a concept cell phone that could easily change things as we know it. This phone, known as the “Separate Keitai” is not one phone, but two. Actually, the Separate Keitai is one phone that can be split into two parts. Each part is synced with each other via Bluetooth wireless technology, and can attach and reattach by a simple magnet. In all honesty, I didn’t think I would ever need such a phone, until I heard what it could do. The Separate Keitai can attach vertically (image on the left) or horizontally (image on the right). As you can see, the vertical attachment brings up a numeric keypad, while the horizontal attachment brings up a QWERTY keyboard. It is even possible to turn this horizontal function into a gamepad for some mobile video game action. While a user is making a call, he or she can check their email or electronic schedule on the separate unit. They can even use the separate unit as an MP3 player. Well, I sure want one of these now. Unfortunately, the company has stated that the Separate Keitai is “a concept model so we have not decided a schedule for practical application”. Too bad. Across the pond at CEATEC 2008 in Japan, NTT DOCOMO presented the " Separate Keitai " prototype--a phone that can be separated in two, literally. The display and the keyboard parts of the phone in question could are actually connected by a mere magnet (that I hope is powerful enough to not accidentally separate the parts while inside the bag, etc.). The phone takes on the usual keitai clamshell factor, but just like a Transformer bot, it could be reattached as a horizontal clamshell or even a gamepad (vertical display, horizontal keyboard). The touch screen could even be designed to show different displays depending on its orientation. Other possibilities for the design exist, such as using the display part as an MP3 player while using the keyboard part to make calls. Another would be using a different type of display for the keyboard part such as a wristband type display that could be useful during jogs or hikes. Cell phone manufacturer Fujitsu exhibited a similar prototype as well (check the pic after the jump). DOCOMO 's Separate Keitai is only a concept model for now and there is currently no schedule for release (or even plans for one) anytime in the near future. ...

Projector technology has improved considerably in the last few years, but although brightness, contrast, and color are better than ever, size still remains an issue for those looking for a truly portable device. Miniature projectors embedded in our cell phones , handheld game consoles and other personal electronics appear very likely to play a major role in the future of information display. Small, ~2 or ~3 inch displays that are common to smartphones nowadays are huge barrier for enjoying in multimedia contents because they limit the user viewing experience. Projecting the picture on the wall appears the most effective way we can currently envisage having a large screen inside a small form factor. Its enough to point the micro projector at any even vaguely flat surface a wall, someone's back, the palm of yo... .. . Read more: NTT DOCOMO Inc dsplays prototype projector phone - full story ...
