The women’s Basketball team, which rode a strong schedule into a school record fourth straight NCAA Tournament appearance last season, has put together another power-packed lineup that includes 11 games against 10 teams that also made it to March Madness. “Each year, we try to put ourselves in the position to be successful in both ACC play and the postseason by putting together a strong and competitive non-conference schedule,’’ coach Sue Semrau said. The non-conference slate features games against UConn in the Caribbean Classic in Cancun, Mexico (Dec. 18-21), at LSU on Dec. 28, and against Texas A&M on Jan. 5. All three reached the Elite 8 with UConn and LSU making it to the Final Four at the St. Pete Times Forum. Other prominent non-conference games include against Florida on Nov. 23, against NCAA teams, Murray State in the Colorado State Rocky Mountain Invitational on Nov. 28, and at Temple on Dec. 7. ACC play includes home games against Duke on Jan. 29, Maryland on Feb. 2 and North Carolina on Feb. 13. Are we really that close to Basketball season already? Well, in any case EA Sports today sent word that former UCLA Bruin Kevin Love will grace the cover of NCAA Basketball 09 . This year the game will feature division 1 coaches for the first time ever. The stats and background on Kevin Love is very impressive check them out. A student-athlete with a 3.2 grade point average, Love was a first team All-American while leading the Bruins in scoring at 17.5 points per game and rebounding at 10.6 rebounds per game as a true freshman. Named 2008 Pac-10 Freshman and Player of the Year, Love led UCLA to the Men’s Final Four. He was the fifth pick in the 2008 NBA Draft by the Memphis Grizzlies and later traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves. He is also the first UCLA Basketball player to be the cover athlete for EA Sports College cover. NCAA Basketball 09 hits stores this fall. ...
