The NBA Playoffs are beginning and we here at TSC are going to break down the matchups by their mascots, the thing that really matters. Lakers(1) vs. Nuggets(8): The embodiment of the great lakes of Los Angeles, the Lakers have been a force in the NBA since moving out west from Minnesota. They face the Nuggets, who have not ever been a force even in their own city. Neither of these mascots make enough sense to be involved in a fight with each other, as I'm not even sure what a laker is. But nuggets are little rocks of gold, and I feel that rocks need to be punished for being bested by paper in the game of Rock-Paper-Scissors. I don't know why rock didn't complain when the three of them were sitting around decided on the rules for that game. But now rocks are known as pussies, and the Nuggets are about to pay the price for this. Prediction: Lakers 4-0 Hornets(2) vs. Mavericks(7): The bees take on the dreaded horse/basketball hybrid that is the Mavericks. This series will be a bit closer, as the Mavs have some talented players, but the Hornets are very under-rated. They are a bug, yet they still wear oversized shoes and big mime gloves. They are out to embarass the Mavs, and there will be little they can do to stop them. Before they became a big blue horse basketball, the Mavericks mascot was a cowboy. We here at TSC have obtained medical records from back them stating an allergy to none other than bees. They swelled u ...

The NBA Playoffs are beginning and we here at TSC are going to break down the matchups by their mascots, the thing that really matters. Celtics vs. Hawks: Hawks have long been the bane of midgets hailing from Ireland. Their fued dates back to the 1400's, when giant hawks would swoop down and grab them from their fjords because of the attraction to their gold buckle shoes. But these are modern times, and the Celtics have a lot more going for them now. Mainly their having hands, and hence the ability to shoot a firearm, is going to spell trouble for the birds as they can easily be shot out of the sky. I predict a Celtics victory. But if that Hawks want to have a chance they are going to have to go after the Celts only good eye(the right one). They could also get lucky and reap the benefits of a lung cancer diagnosis mid-game due to the Celts love for pipe smoking. Prediction: Celtics 4-1 Pistons vs. 76ers: One of the battles that I have only seen before in my greatest of dreams, car parts against people from the year 1776. I think too much has changed in the past 200 years for the 76ers to be competitive in this series. They are still riding around on horses, wearing those triangle hats, and writing articles of confederacy. Look for the Pistons to drive right over the Sixers while they are in the middle of the street attemtping to draft a declaration of independence. Prediction: Pistons 4-1 Magic vs. Raptors: ...

My online boyfriend and fellow LFF (Laker fan fanatic)  J-Dizzle and I will almost certainly never get married because of a number of reasons. Such as,                 He's too busy being one of the resident experts, if not the expert, on the NBA in general and the :Lakers in particular for this blog. Nobody does it better.                   I just made up the part about him being the online boyfriend. But we did catch up with him in the past few days and interrogate him about the Lakers in depth, things you've never seen on this blog before and in the coming days of the playoffs we'll find just the right moment and share with you what we found out in "Dizzle Dazzles the Lakers" (IHopefully we'll convince a couple of other team's more articulate  fans to do the same with their teams during the playoffs. Notice I said articulate, not rational.) ********************************************************************************** As part of my apprenticeship to become a professional gambler, I've decided to give you the odds on certain things happening from here on out. MVP There's a 60% chance that Kobe Bryant will be named the MVP. A 40% chance that Chris Paul will be named the MVP and A zero percent chance of anyone else. Eastern Conference Detroit Pistons vs Orlando Magic The Magic take this series in 6 or 7.  Dizzle ( is a suprising goofy when it comes to P ...

Filed under: Celtics , Lakers , NBA Playoffs NBA Endgame will Preview Celtics-Lakers from all angles. Right now: the obligatory position-by-position breakdown. In looking at the way the Celtics and Lakers will match up with each other by position, I'm going with the traditional breakdown -- as opposed to who may be actually matched up against each other -- because that's likely to change as the series goes on. We'll be taking a deeper look at some of those individual matchups over the next couple of days, but in the meantime, here's an overview of the starters for both teams. PG : Derek Fisher (LA) vs Rajon Rondo (BOS) : Rondo's quickness and playmaking ability are a big plus, but his unwillingness to shoot the ball when he's open has hurt the Celtics at times. Fisher's Playoff heroics are well-documented, and the veteran definitely won't be rattled playing in his fourth NBA Finals. Advantage: Lakers SG : Kobe Bryant (LA) vs Ray Allen (BOS) : This matchup might be closer than you think, at least in terms of how it may affect their respective teams. Kobe's going to get his, but If Ray Allen can find some consistency in this series and at least force Kobe to expend some energy on the defensive end of the floor, he could even this one out a bit. But if Allen isn't hitting his shots, Kobe will be able to cheat off of him and provide some help defense, which will obviously make things tougher for people like Paul Pierce. Advantage: Lak ...

EASTERN CONFERENCE Boston vs. Atlanta Comments: Wait a minute Atlanta is EIGHT games under .500 and they’re in the playoffs while Golden State won 48 and isn’t? What am I missing here? Why is this league rewarding a team for losing? I think we can agree that all pro leagues are all about making money. So if that’s true why wouldn’t you have the Warriors in the playoffs? Do you think anyone outside of the Boston area is going to be watching this series? Even the city of Atlanta doesn’t care about the Atlanta Hawks. They’re too busy not going to Braves and Thrashers games to care about their NBA team. You’re telling me you wouldn’t watch Baron Davis, Monta Ellis, Stephon Jackson & Co. take on Boston’s Big Three? All right that’s enough questions. Remember Golden State beat Boston in a wildly entertaining 119-177 back in February. I hate it when leagues are so blatantly stupid and don’t even attempt to correct their mistakes. I hope Golden State wins the draft lottery and makes complete mockery of the system. Prediction: Boston in Four. If they could win it in three I would have taken that option. Detroit vs. Philadelphia Comments: Everyone is talking about the great run that Philly finished the season on (26-18) to make the playoffs. Don’t get me wrong they’ve had a great second half and have beaten an array of top teams. But something bothers me about them losing three straight to Indian ...

Recently, I took the Shooter Wife to see Patrick Stewart (yes, Star trek's Captain Jean-Luc Picard -- shut up, he's actually a fantastic Shakespearean actor) in Macbeth, which is playing on Broadway as a straight drama. It was freaking awesome. The show has gotten great reviews, and Macbeth was always one of my favorites in high school and college. Hamlet's OK and all, but for sheer blood ...
