In 2006 and 2007, the presence of camera crews and Hollywood heartthrobs in South Carolina dramatically increased with the initiation of a highly competitive motion picture incentive package. Kevin Bacon’s “Death Sentence” filmed in the capital city. George Clooney and his “Leatherheads” crew took over the Upstate. Even smaller films like “Who’s Your Caddy?” were shot in the Palmetto State. The temporary film incentives adopted in July 2006 allowed cash rebates for production companies of up to 20 percent for wages and 30 percent on purchases — at the time, one of the most competitive incentive packages in the nation. As a result, six films set up shop in the state. In 2007, though, the state decided the incentives were too generous. Rebates for out-of-state workers were dropped to 10 percent, and the 30 percent rebate on purchases was limited to supplies bought in-state. Adderton, who has been in film work in North and South Carolina for eight years, is one of more than 1,000 people and companies — from animal handlers to sound mixers — in the S.C. Film Commission’s crew database. ... Find more results for Movie Magic on RSSMicro.com |
