Hey Guys. I'm planning on moving my business into a remote area in Lakeview, MI. Zip Code 48850. No Broadband of any kind in the area. I do however get great reception with Centennial Wireless. They offer an "Unlimited" Data Plan for $45/Month. They also have a few different AirCards, but I wanted something that would allow me to share the access throughout the home. Enter the Ericsson W25. http://www.fixedwirelessterminal.com/ericsson_w25/index.html $99 for activation + $45/month for Unlimited Access. Seems like a great deal to me. It is EDGE however. Im curious if anyone has any experience with either products (the Ericsson W25, or Centennials "Unlimited" Data plan) and what type of speed and reliability I should expect. I plan on connecting to my office via a VPN connection, and I have VNC Servers running on all the PC's so that I can connect remotely. Will any of this be an issue? How about gaming? What sort of Latency can I expect. Any Info is appreciated. THANKS! **EDIT** The plan is capped. 5 GB. The service adviser was mistaken. That really soils my enjoyment. How will this affect what im trying to do? 5 GB up/down just doesn't seem like enough bandwidth. ...

T-Mobile USA has asked the FCC to extend the public-comment period for its controversial plan to auction a nationwide block of spectrum that would see the licensee offering free Broadband services. T-Mobile wants the commission to spend more time studying potential interference problems and delay its final decision until after the November elections. The commission's comment deadline is July 9 with reply comments due July 16. The FCC wants to craft its rules by August. M2Z Founder, Chairman and CTO Milo Medin, whose company first presented this type of proposal to the FCC back in 2006 and is interested in bidding on the spectrum,  recently told FierceBroadbandWireless that the core technical rules that have always been advocated for the auction are the same rules that were used for the 700 MHz auction. "It's hard to argue that the same rules worked at 700 MHz but don't work in this band," he said. The commission is proposing to combine the 2155 to 2175 MHz band with the 2175 MHz to 2180 MHz band to create a 25-megahertz swathe of spectrum that would support a nationwide license. The spectrum is referred to as advanced Wireless services-3 and would require the licensee to dedicate 25 percent of its network capacity to free Broadband service, install a network-based Internet filtering system to block pornography and allow open access to third-party devices and applications. Kirkland, Washington-based Clearwire Corp., which recently entered into a WiMAX partnership with Sprint Nextel, Google, and other tech industry giants, is currently the world’s leading provider of Broadband Wireless access (BWA), according to a recent report by Maravedis. Clearwire’s 443,000 subscribers gave it almost a quarter of the global BWA market. The company’s next plan is to move beyond its current proprietary technology, and become the first American Wireless Broadband provider to target the budding Mobile WiMAX sector. At the end of the first quarter, certified Mobile WiMAX networks accounted for just 193,000 of the 1,988,000 BWA subscribers worldwide, with 145,000 of these belonging to Korea Telecom’s WiBro network. In most markets, however, Mobile WiMAX is still in very early stages of development. “Even with an increase of more than 19% in WiMAX subscribers in the first quarter of 2008, operators are still waiting for the tipping point that will lead to acceleration of WiMAX adoption and deployments,” explained Maravedis founder and CEO, Adlane Fellah. “The key factors mainly centre on certification of Mobile WiMAX equipment, a reduction in CPE pricing and the emergence of a device ecosystem.” ...
