Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto may be happy to cheer on his company's push into the casual market, but it still doesn't stop him from checking in on what hard-core players are into. Someone was able to capture video of Miyamoto taking in some video of first-person shooter Killzone 2 at Sony's E3 booth. Despite the fact that his translator is telling him about the popularity of the genre, I somehow doubt it's leaving much of an impression on the man. LOS ANGELES -- Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto joins us on Game|Life to talk about Wii Music , Wii MotionPlus, and Pikmin. Yes, Pikmin. Although he doesn't say much, as you might expect. The drawing of Mario, by the way, went to producer Annaliza Savage's four-year-old. So don't worry, it's in good hands. Until it is destroyed. Wow, a video interview with Miyamoto and in just 21 short episodes? Where do we go from here? Stay tuned throughout the coming weeks for more interviews with game designers, including ones not from Japan. I know, right? Just minutes after the end of Nintendo ’s press conference, Stephen had a chance to speak with lead designer Shigeru Miyamoto . We’ll have more from Miyamoto next week, but the answer to our last question just had to be shared. We asked if Miyamoto could talk about Nintendo president Satoru Iwata ’s promise that Nintendo’s internal “Mario” and “Zelda” teams are hard at work at new projects. When will we hear more about then? “What I can say is that typically games like that take anywhere from two to three years to finish those up,” said Miyamoto. “We do have the teams together and the teams are all working. The other thing that I can say is that in the past we haven’t really had much opportunity to release two Mario titles or two Zelda titles on a single hardware system. Our plan is to try to do that with Wii. With that in mind, the teams are working hard at this point.” Exciting! Sounds like we have more “Mario” and “Zelda” to look forward to in the future (as if there was any doubt). And with that, we’re off to the Sony press conference! ...

This may be the news that some Nintendo fans may be waiting for. Yes, a new Pikmin game is in development and it's Shigeru Miyamoto himself who admitted the news during a developer roundtable in the recent E3 event, and not some anonymous source. A new Pikmin . What is there not to love about this announcement? However, Miyamoto did not specify which Nintendo console will get the honor of receiving the continuation of Captain Olimar and the Pikmin's adventures. "We're making Pikmin " is all that he said pertaining to the much-requested sequel to the GameCube original franchise. We're probably going to get the game for the Nintendo Wii, but the possibility of the upcoming Pikmin sequel being released for the Nintendo handheld isn't far-off, either: case in point, the sequel to Elebits , Elebits: The Adventures of Kai and Zero . In any case, here's hoping that we can get it as soon as possible. Updates as we get them! Related articles: Rumor: Miyamoto hints at new Zelda game, new Pikmin, Wii Fit online support ...

Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto and Katsuya Eguchi. E3, in my opinion, having been through about 10 of these now, is a lot better this year. I still don't like the ruckus that surrounds the event and would rather it didn't exist. But since it will most likely continue to exist in some fashion, I'd rather have it collected in the relatively sane, low-key, sensible arrangement that they organized it this year. No running around Santa Monica, no running back and forth between the West and South Halls of the L.A. Convention Center. Everything is within reach, nestled in the Concourse Hall here, and it's made for low wear and tear on the ol' feets, for which I am immensely thankful. It was this precise layout that enabled me to show up right on time for my brief interview with Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto and Tatsuya Eguchi. It's not easy doing interviews with big time developers or execs at E3, as you're usually running on a strict timetable (20 minutes and you're out!), and are more often than not getting into your own interview late, because of the guys before you running over. It's tough to get a rhythym going, so you just have to shoot from the hip and hope you get something interesting out of it. That said, click here for my full interview with Shigeru Miyamoto and the click here for the full recap of the Nintendo of America developer roundtable which covers a lot of the same ground that my own interview covered, but this time with open-fo ...

At Nintendo's E3 08 Developers Conference this evening, Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto confirmed that Nintendo is working on a version of Pikmin, we take it for either the DS or the Wii. Miyamoto, discussing Nintendo's relationship with "core" gamers said, "[Core] games could apply to games with better graphis or a more involved story, so if we forget those elements too, that would detract from our work, so we continue to investigate all types of games. When it's time to announce such a title, I'll announce it. We're making Pikmin." We'll let you know more when we know more.   ...
