WNA / 03-06 / Bag / The Government of Iraq Spokesman Dr. Ali Al-Dabbagh announced that the Council of Ministers, during its ordinary session on the Tuesday the 3rd of June 2008, has discussed Iraqi Government’s position towards the current negotiations and talks regarding the bilateral agreement between Iraq and the United States. The Council of Ministers agreed unanimously on backing the Iraqi negotiating delegation in relation to adhering to the national principles, safeguarding Iraq’s full sovereignty, and Iraq’s control over national decisions and its people’s interests. Al-Dabbagh added that the Council of Ministers stressed on not accepting any article that undermines national sovereignty. It also emphasized on full commitment to protecting Iraq’s security, property, and resources in accordance with international resolutions and the level of protection currently provided, and looking into their possible alternatives to preserve the sovereignty and interests of Iraq and the dignity of its people. Al-Dabbagh also said that the Prime Ministers has emphasized that a joint vision on this issue is yet to be achieved between the two sides, and that the Iraqi side has a different vision, and it will not undercut or be negligent towards Iraqis’ rights and sovereignty.//END/S.K/gov ...
