Everything depends on the political will of the people, the economic understanding of their leaders, and the ability of those leaders to persuade the public to support the radical measures that are necessary" We are far from the needed upheaval to reverse the course of interventionist government, yet people clamor for CHANGE. The economic understanding of leaders seems to be the key right now. From what I can tell neither McCain nor Obama have a good grasp of economics -- they are both economic pragmatists with no guiding principles. I wonder if I am correct in assuming that when most people think "leader" they think "President"? Perhaps this is the problem. Perhaps we need leaders to rise outside of politics. By leaders I mean people who can ariticulate and influence real change that will require the "political will of the people", and who can communicate a vision of the "radical measures that are necessary." Washington will not change itself. Voices across the web are a good start, and one can only hope the voices will grow louder and not fall prey to cynicism.
