by Marcel Mutoni China and Wisconsin are far apart. This, Michael Redd, found out the hard way. Not only was he made to travel an unfathomable distance, but the poor guy had to comfortably sit on the bench for two whole weeks while his fellow Redeem Teamers worked extremely hard to bring the Gold Medal back home. All of that flying in chartered jets, sleeping in luxury hotels, and having the best seat in the house for some Olympic hoops has drained the energy from Michael’s body and soul. The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel brings us his tale of fatigue and woe: “The body took a lot of wear and tear, no question about it,” Redd said. “We’ll see how it goes, and we’ll figure it out.” “It was draining, though. I’ve been trying to get revved up again the last few weeks.” If Redd is tired, we probably shouldn’t expect to see the LeBrons and Kobes until sometime in February. They’ll need all the time they can get to recover from the summer. ...

In the CANTON REPOSITORY, Mike Popovich writes, "Michael Redd still savors the moment he became a gold medal winner. The feeling, the pride the former Ohio State guard has it's as clear as the passion the U.S. Olympic men's basketball team played with last month in Beijing. 'It was something I'll never forget and always cherish,' Redd said." ... Source: blogs.jsonline.com --- 19 hours ago
The Dallas Mavericks played in Chicago on Thursday night, and forward Brandon Bass helped lead the way to a 110-102 victory over the Chicago Bulls. The Mavericks move on to La Crosse to face the Bucks tonight, and point guard Jason Kidd is expected to sit out. The Bucks' Michael Redd, Kidd's teammate on the gold-medal winning U.S. Olympic squad, also is expected to be rested tonight. Derrick Rose, the No. 1 pick in the June draft, had an uneven beginning with the Bulls, committing six turnovers in his pro debut. He started in the Chicago backcourt with Kirk Hinrich at shooting guard. The Bucks will face the Bulls in the regular-season opener on Oct. 28 at the United Center. ... Jason Terry nailed a half-court shot just as the halftime buzzer was sounding, then went into his Jet impersonation with arms spread wide. The pro-Bucks crowd at La Crosse Center was not impressed and gave him an earful of boos, so Terry cuffed his hand to his ear as if to say: Is that all you got? He could have just as easily been talking about the Bucks, who scored 29 points in the first half. The Mavericks lead by 18 and are cruising. The Mavericks are playing without Jason Kidd and Milwaukee is without Michael Redd, both of whom have the night off. The Bucks, however, do seem to have taken to new coach Scott Skiles' defensive slant. They have done a good job on the Mavericks in many areas, although the 6-of-9 3-point shooting is a primary reason why the Mavs are rolling. ... Source: blogs.jsonline.com --- 3 hours ago
Andrew Bogut said he was "charging everything" he will need to keep him busy on a 15-hour flight to China. The Bucks' bags are packed for a week-long trip to China, and their alarm clocks are set for early Sunday morning. The team's charter flight to Guangzhou, via Anchorage, Alaska, departs around 10 a.m. Sunday. "We've got a short night tonight," said Bucks coach Scott Skiles. "We'll go home, get up early and head out." The Bucks are scheduled to arrive in Guangzhou at 6:40 p.m. Monday (or 5:40 a.m. Milwaukee time). They will play the Golden State Warriors in a pair of exhibition games, on Wednesday in Guangzhou and Saturday (Friday night Milwaukee time) in Beijing. But first things first. The Bucks (0-3 in exhibition play) meet the Detroit Pistons (3-0) tonight in the annual MACC Fund Game, and Skiles will be using his projected starting lineup for the first time. Bogut will be at center, Richard Jefferson and Charlie Villanueva at forwards and Michael Redd and Luke Ridnour at guards. "We're having some nice 2, 3, 4-minute stretches, and we need to turn those into 8, 10, 12-minute stretches," Skiles said. "We need to get more consistency from more people, knowing also that we're asking half a new team and a whole new staff and everybody to learn a new system. "And we need to get something out of this China trip. It's a place where a lot of us have never been, may never go again. It's good for people to see a different culture ... La Crosse - Point guard Luke Ridnour is expected to make his first start for the Bucks when they take on the Dallas Mavericks here tonight. Ridnour, who missed the first two exhibition games because of a knee injury, was scheduled to start at guard alongside rookie Luc Mbah a Moute, with Charlie Villanueva and Richard Jefferson at the forwards, and Andrew Bogut at center. Coach Scott Skiles said before the game that he also expected rookie forward Joe Alexander, who missed the first two exhibition games with an abdominal strain, would be able to play. Skiles said Ridnour would play limited minutes but that he hoped to give Alexander a good run if he played well and warranted the minutes. Guard Charlie Bell was not with the team due to a left leg injury and Michael Redd was given the night off. "I was pretty pleased the other night (in Detroit) with how what I'll call probably our main rotation players played in that game," said Skiles. "So if we can get a similar-type effort and look like we're continuing to get organized and our defense is solid...but tonight will be a totally different look from the Pistons. We're going to be tested in transition defense tonight. This team really pushes the ball. So we'll have a different look tonight. I just want to get a little bit better each time we play." Also, the Bucks announced that they had waived forward T.J. Cummings, which reduced their roster to 18 players (including Damon Jones ... Source: blogs.jsonline.com --- 1 day ago
St. Francis - Bucks coach Scott Skiles said today he will monitor the minutes played by guard Michael Redd and may sit him out of Friday's exhibition game against the Dallas Mavericks in La Crosse. Redd played in each of the Bucks' first two exhibition games, including a 21-minute stint in an 85-71 loss at Detroit on Wednesday night. The Bucks play back-to-back games this weekend, in La Crosse on Friday and against Detroit in the MACC Fund Game on Saturday night at the Bradley Center. On Sunday, the team will take a charter flight to Guangzhou, China, where it will begin a week-long tour featuring two games against the Golden State Warriors. "Michael and I talked about it today," Skiles said. "It's possible I give him a game or two off here in the next three or four games, because he's really worked hard in practice and we're getting a lot accomplished in this building. "But again, at some point we've got to get everybody playing together before opening night. We just have to find a balance in there. It's possible Michael doesn't play tomorrow night, then comes back and plays on Saturday and then maybe one of the China games. That may be the way that we go." Redd said he wants to find the right balance so he is at full strength when the regular season opens on Oct. 28 in Chicago. The shooting guard had a busy summer of training camps and Olympic competition as he played for the U.S. "Redeem Team" which won the gold medal in the B ... Source: blogs.jsonline.com --- 3 days ago
Auburn Hills, Mich. - The Bucks will again be short-handed when they take on the Detroit Pistons at the Palace here tonight. Coach Scott Skiles said before the game that guards Luke Ridnour and Charlie Bell, along with forwards Richard Jefferson and Joe Alexander would not play due to injuries. Skiles plans to start Ramon Sessions and Michael Redd at guard, Luc Richard Mbah a Moute and Charlie Villanueva at forward, and Andrew Bogut at center. "We were so bad the other night that we just need to play better," said Skiles. "We have to hope that we have at least have some minutes of good basketball before we go to China. That's what we'd like to get. "And hopefully, we can get healthy and get our starters out there playing together for some decent minutes. Get some guys that are gong to come off the bench shuttled in a little bit because the China trip is going to be an interesting and difficult trip. We'd like to get something under our belt before we go." ... Source: www.localwineevents.com --- 21 days ago
