Halfway through their schedule, the Bobcats have looked stronger than last season. Stoke averages are down to 73, 74.67, 75 and 75.22. John Mlynarski has posted the best average with a 72.80 through five rounds, better than the 73 posted last year by junior Stewart Jamieson. Tim Gusweiler is averaging a 73.33, while Jamieson is near his score of 73.5. Junior Chad Warmbein is shooting a 75.33 average. The Bobcats’ combined stroke average is also down five strokes per round. Last year, the team finished with a 299.94 average, while this year’s team has a 294.3 through two events. Ohio’s average is the second highest in the MAC behind Eastern Michigan, whose average is 292.11. As individuals, the Bobcats have finished higher in tournament standings. Last year, no one recorded a top-10 finish. This year Ohio has had three players finish in two of the fall tournaments. Mlynarski tied for first and Jamieson third in the Piper Intercollegiate at Bowling Green. Gusweiler finished 10th place finish in last week’s Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational. The team returned most of its top golfers from a year ago, which has proved to be beneficial. The statistics have shown that Ohio is better than last year. The Bobcats will try to continue their recent success as they travel to Florida for the Mission Inn Collegiate Classic in Orlando, Fla. The tournament is hosted by St. John’s and will take place at the Mission Inn. ...
