Reports Rolling Stone: Singer/songwriter Ray LaMontagne has written a sweet love song for the White Stripes’ drummer Meg White. The name of the song? “Meg White.” The rumor is that Meg loves the song and will be meeting up with LaMontagne at his show in Michigan. Not sure yet if they’ll ride their bikes down to the [...] ... Apparently Ray LaMontagne has a bit of a crush on Meg White. Or he fakes it really well. He has a new album called Gossip In The Grain coming out in a couple of weeks, and one of the tracks is this little invitation: “Meg White” It’s either a sweet ode or the first sign [...] ... As I noted in a piece for Comment Is Free the other day , former eBay CEO Meg Whitman has been put forward as a potential senior cabinet member under White House hopeful John McCain (not much was made in his presidential debate of that the company she left behind just laid off more than 1,000 people). On a similar note, I couldn't help but be disappointed in the news that Gordon Brown's reshuffle had brought in Stephen Carter as minister for "communications, technology and broadcasting". This is the job in charge of quite a lot of stuff that's important to the likes of you and me, and Carter's track record is not even Whitmanesque. After all, he counts more than a decade with a big advertising agency ; controversially heading up cable company NTL, which went into bankruptcy ; being the big boss at the launch of Britain's (in my opinion fairly limp) media regulator, Ofcom; a quick turn in PR ; and being Brown's top policy adviser. Sounds to me like that's a lot more to do with communications and broadcasting than it is technology. But then again: if somebody else should be in charge of Britain's long term technology, who would it be? The country's most famous technologist, Tim Berners-Lee, might seem like a good pick. But would an academic - however influential - be the right person to guide us through? Our biggest 'technology' companies include BT, BAE Systems and Vodafone - but would you want any of those plutocrats running the ...

Here's a one-off video from Daytrotter, featuring Kevin Barnes and bandmate Bryan Poole (aka the Late B.P. Helium) doing an acoustic performance of "Du Og Meg" from last year's Icons, Abstract Thee EP. Barnes is camouflaged in blue zebra-print; if this clip were in black and White, he would fade right into the matching backdrop. Poole-- looking half David Byrne, half Nick Cave in a wide-collared safari suit and bleached hair-- introduces the track "about a boy and a girl". Might be safe to assume that boy is sitting in the studio with him. Just something to tide us over until Skeletal Lamping hits stores on October 23, a few weeks later than originally scheduled. Video:> Of Montreal: "Du Og Meg" (Daytrotter session) [from Icons, Abstract Thee EP; out now on Polyvinyl] ...

Junior Amanda White recorded six saves to pick up her third shutout of the season for the Millis girls soccer team and earn a 3-0 non-league victory over visiting Ursuline Academy. Junior Molly Breen tallied two goals, while senior Amy Ingraham added another for the Mohawks (5-2-4, 3-2-4 TVL). Sophomore Ashley Page assisted on all the goals. WHITINSVILLE CHRISTIAN 1, BLACKSTONE-MILLVILLE 0: Kendra Woodenberg scored the lone goal for Whitinsville Christian, leading the Crusaders over Blackstone-Millville in a Dual Valley Conference showdown. Keeper McKenzie Dion made 13 saves for her fourth shutout of the season for the Crusaders (7-1, 4-1 DVC). Goalie Felicia Burr made 14 saves in a strong effort for the Chargers (4-3-1, 1-3-1 DVC). SUTTON 2, NIPMUC 1: Sophomore Lauren Soucey scored in the 57th minute off an assist from junior Meg Fitzgerald for Nipmuc, but it was not enough to take down Dual Valley Conference rival Sutton. Junior Missy Rhodes recorded two saves, while Kelsey Fitzgerald and Erin Mullarkey played well at midfield for the Warriors (4-3, 3-1 DVC). TRI-COUNTY 3, BRISTOL-PLYMOUTH 1: Junior Erica Jonasson scored the first two goals for Tri-County, lifting the Cougars past Bristol-Plymouth in a Mayflower Small matchup. Like his father, Mitt Romney ran for governor and won. Like his father, Mitt Romney ran for president and lost. But even if his former GOP rival John McCain wins the presidency in November, Romney says he won't emulate his father by taking a Cabinet position - apparently because he still has his eye on the presidency. "I saw my dad serve in the Cabinet, and I learned something from that experience," the former Massachusetts governor said Tuesday. "He felt he was kind of soldiered (manhandled) by the young folks in the White House, and then there's the big bureaucracy that you try and move. It's hard to do that. I just don't have any interest in a Cabinet position." Since ending his own bid for the Republican presidential nomination in February, Romney has done everything asked of him to advance McCain's candidacy. He played attack dog in media interviews arranged by the McCain staff, enduring hoots and hollers last week as he visited news sets on the floor of the Democratic National Convention in Denver. He recommended one of his best advisers, former eBay chief executive Meg Whitman, to McCain. And he and his team raised more than $20 million for his once cash-strapped rival, all of which prompted McCain's top advisers to chat up the possibility that Romney might become the Arizona senator's running mate. ...

Who: Molly, a mix of miniature schnauzer and Yorkshire terrier, was selected to be featured in the movie “The Women.” Three-year-old Molly has multiple owners: Norm Barber and Patty Kovacs of Norwich, and a partial ownership by trainer Gleanna Doyle of Mystic. Molly is black, with a tuft of White fur on her chest, but her hair was streaked with highlights for the movie. About the movie: “The Women” is fittingly titled — starring Annette Benninng, Meg Ryan, Eva Mendes, Bette Midler, Debra Messing, Cloris Leachman, Debi Mazar, Candice Bergen and Carrie Fisher. Ryan’s unfaithful spouse rallies the bond of female friendship and rattles its core. The film is a remake of the 1939 George Cukor classic, which starred one of the most beloved silver screen dogs of all time: Toto of the “Wizard of Oz,” a Cairn terrier. Molly’s big break: Barber already knew Doyle, whose golden retriever, Luke, is also in the movie. Doyle has worked on various movies, commercials and TV shows with dogs before. Doyle showed director Diane English a picture of Molly, who resembles the original Toto. Molly’s tenacity: Molly is a fighter: She is the only survivor of a litter of puppies infected with the parvovirus. She is what Barber calls “green,” and Doyle had to train her to be in the film. And it was her terrier tenacity that made her a natural for the part. In the movie, one scene is a showdown between Molly and an uptown poodle, with much yipping. In anothe ... This was my first "full" detail on a vehicle that was not mine. The car had 50,300 miles on it when it was pulled into the garage. Products used were: Meguiar's Gold Class DP All Exterior Mother's Back-to-Black Mother's Chrome Polish Black Magic Titanium Tire Gel Mothers Clay & Lube Porter Cable 7424 Orange, White, and Gray Pads XMT#3 XMT#1 XMT Glaze/Wax 1500/2000 Grit Wet-Sanding Paper Plast-X First of all, I wasn't very happy with the XMT products this time around either. On both my 325i, and this 325i, I did not get the finishing results I hoped for. I'm assuming that my interpretation of "Intermediate" Swirling was a little too optimistic, so I have some samples of Wolfgang TSR 3.0 and FG 3.0, as well as some Collonite 845, and some 5.5" Yellow, White, Gray, and Red Pads ordered. I also want to try Meg's 105 and/or Menzerna SIP but have yet to spend the money on those products yet. I was happy with the finished product but know it could have been better with more time and more aggresive products. Here are the before and after photos. I need to remember to take more pics more often, but I'll work on that on the next detail. Sorry for the random marks from Photobucket. I was trying to edit out the license plate and the website was glitching all over the place so I just posted them as-is.
