Injured Giants Brandon Jacobs, Aaron Ross and Chase Blackburn all practiced today, but Plaxico Burress did not. Tom Coughlin said Burress has an injured hamstring that popped up "Just now. Overnight and into today." Asked if Burress is going to be OK, Coughlin replied, "We will see." As for Jacobs (knee), Ross (hamstring) and Blackburn (neck), Coughlin said, "They practiced limited and apparently did pretty well. Nobody was hampered; nobody had to come out. So I would say they did OK." Sammy Knight (hip) and Jeroma McDougle (knee) also did not practice. ... Source: blogs.nfl.com --- 10 days ago

Stop the presses! (or whatever the internet equivilant of presses are). Sinorice Moss is active for today’s game. The mostly invisible receiver will dress and be eligible to play this afternoon against the Dallas Cowboys - though of course there’s no guarantee that he will play. But just getting activated is a step in the right direction, considering he hasn’t been active since his two-touchdown game against the Seahawks last month. With Moss filling the roll as fifth receiver, rookie Mario Manningham will sit this one out. Also inactive for the Giants are K Lawrence Tynes, CB R.W. McQuarters, RB Danny Ware, CB Kevin Dockery (back), LB Gerris Wilkinson (knee), T Adam Koets, and DE Jerome McDougle. Meanwhile, for the Cowboys, TE Jason Witten and CB Anthony Henry will apparently play. Their inactives are QB Tony Romo, RB Felix Jones, CB Quincy Butler, CB Terence Newman, G Kyle Kosier, G Joe Berger, T Doug Free and WR Isaiah Stanback. ... Source: www.nydailynews.com --- 23 days ago
Lawrence Tynes is about to make his 2008 debut for the New York Giants. And here’s the kicker to the kicker situation: John Carney is active, too. Despite consistently insisting that he had no intention of activating both kickers, Tom Coughlin has done exactly that for tonight’s game in Philadelphia. It’s not yet clear how this will all shake out, but I’m assuming that Tynes will handle kickoffs and Carney will handle field goals. That makes sense since Carney is near-perfect on field goals this season, but his kickoffs have been getting shorter and shorter every week. As expected, CB Kevin Dockery (back), S James Butler (knee) and LB Gerris Wilkinson (knee) are inactive. So are RB Reuben Droughns, RB Danny Ware, T Adam Koets, DE Jerome McDougle and WR Mario Manningham. And yes, that means Sinorice Moss is active again. *** UPDATE: According to the Giants, Droughns is inactive because he woke up this morning with a stiff neck, and it didn’t get any better after treatment. … Also, according to the Giants, Tynes will handle “long field goals” tonight, though it’s unclear exactly what Coughlin will consider “long”. ... The switch has been made at kicker. Lawrence Tynes is in. John Carney is out. Carney, who has made all but one of his field goals this year - and that one was blocked - is inactive for today’s game against the Baltimore Ravens. Tynes, who hasn’t attempted a field goal in a game since early August, will be the Giants’ lone kicker in a game that figures to be played in swirling winds. It’s a very intriguing decision, since Tom Coughlin had been very reluctant to make the switch while Carney was playing so well. Tynes, who has been fully healthy since late September, was activated for the first time last week in Philadelphia but handled only the kickoffs. Today, every kick will be his. Meanwhile, both CB Corey Webster (groin) and S James Butler (knee) are active. It’s not clear if they will start, but they will likely play. The inactive list for the Giants includes Carney, RB Danny Ware, CB Kevin Dockery (back), LB Jonathan Goff (concussion), LB Gerris Wilkinson (knee), T Adam Koets, WR Mario Manningham and DE Jerome McDougle. T Willie Anderson (ankle) is the only notable inactive for the Ravens. ... Source: www.nydailynews.com --- 5 days ago
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and got a good look at the Dallas Cowboys — the team I would be most worried about in the NFC if I were the Giants. I’ll save that topic for another day, though. For now, I just wanted to update you on yesterday’s injury report: DE Justin Tuck was added to the injury report after he did not practice with a “lower leg” injury. Unfortunately I don’t know anything more than that. There was no media access to the Giants yesterday, and you’ll be surprised to know they didn’t release any additional information about the injury. We’ll see in about an hour whether he’s going to practice today. Also, on the bad news list: WR Plaxico Burress (hamstring), RB Ahmad Bradshaw (neck), DT Fred Robbins (shoulder) and LB Jonathan Goff (hamstring) missed their second straight day of practice. If any of them are forced to sit out practice today, it’s a good bet that they won’t be out there on Sunday either. That’s not a guarantee, but usually (with the notable exception of Burress) if guys don’t practice they don’t play. So it’s good news, then, that RB Brandon Jacobs (knee), WR Domenik Hixon (ankle) and DE Jerome McDougle (knee) all practiced on Thursday. The real test for Jacobs, though, will be how his knee held up after that workout and whether it swelled up again today. *** I know it’s still a holiday for some of you, but you’re not going to want to miss the final installment of Eli Manning Trivia rig ... Antonio Pierce, as Giants co-owner John Mara indicated a few minutes ago , is in the lineup for today’s game against the Redskins. But DT Fred Robbins (shoulder) and RB Ahmad Bradshaw (neck) are not. Also inactive is K Lawrence Tynes, which means John Carney will again be the Giants’ lone kicker. ... Source: s.azcentral.com --- 12 days ago
Receiver Plaxico Burress (hamstring) was added to the Giants' injury report after not practicing on Thursday. It's unclear when, or how, Burress was injured, according to New York media reports. Cleaning crews are sweeping up the stadium, so I'll do the same with my notebook. -- The Cardinals, I'm told, informally have pointed out to the league that Giants running back Brandon Jacobs and defensive lineman Jerome McDougle didn't play on Sunday after being listed as probable on Friday. "Probable", in NFL terms, means a virtual certainity to fulfill the player's usual role. -- I think the Giants were caught off-guard at the end of the first half. They took possession with 24 seconds left and quarteraback Eli Manning kneeled. The Cardinals quickly called timeout and used all three of them forcing ... read the rest of this post ... I just happened to be talking to another reporter at yesterday's practice and we were hypothesizing about how far this team will go this season. One of the things we noted that could derail things was injuries. So we started talking about the players the Giants could least afford to lose. The other reporter said "If Plaxico Burress were to get hurt tomorrow, the season would be over." Well, guess who was on the sideline at today's practice having his legs worked on by trainers? Yup. Plaxico Burress missed the early parts of practice today while be attended to in the area for injured players. There's obviously a chance he was just a little tight and needed some extra work before hopping up and sprinting onto the field once we left the bubble. We'll find out more later. It was a strange day by the exercise bikes with players coming and going. Aaron Ross started the session over there but was soon on the field. Jerome McDougle was there early too, but it looked like he wasn't going to go today. And Sammy Knight was there at the end. The one guy who wasn't over there was Brandon Jacobs. he was taking some reps in the team drills. We'll wait for the report to see if he practiced fully or on a limited basis. I doubt that Coughlin will give us any insight into whether or not he'll be ready on Sunday, but you never know. ... Source: www.bleedinggreennation.com --- 28 days ago
The Eagles have completed 8 regular season games and therefore have hit the mid point of their season... So I figured it would be a good time to take a little poll on who we think has been the biggest surprise of the first here. Here are the nominees. Darren Howard - This is a guy whose place on the team was in serious doubt coming into training camp. Many fans wanted to keep Jerome McDougle over him... Fast forward to right now and Darren Howard is leading the team in sacks with 6.5. That's the 5th most in the NFC. Howard's versatility rushing the passer from both the inside and outside is exactly what the Eagles expected to get when they signed him to a big free agent contract in 2006. Desean Jackson - A second round pick that's leading the team in recieving has to be considered a suprise. Jackson leads all NFL rookies in recieving yards and he's second in receptions. He also leads all rookies in return TDs and punt returns over 40 yards. Halfway through the season, Jackson is a legit rookie of the year candidate and a major weapon on this offense. Sav Rocca - Last year we saw some promise from the Austrailian but we also saw quite a bit of inconsistency. Not this year... Rocca is in the top 5 in the NFC in punting average and punts inside the 20. He leads the NFC and is second in the NFL in punts placed inside the 10. Rocca has always had the big leg, but his directional punting and ability to place punts have improved by lea ... Source: weblogs.newsday.com --- 9 days ago

HIGH POINT - Still bundled in hooded jackets, dozens of men circled the lobby of High Point's Open Door Ministries on Tuesday night. They sat and waited, looking to claim a hot meal and a warm bed for a long chilly night. Reginald McDougle, the shelter director, said the lobby was packed by 4:30 p.m., and a line of men looking for assistance stretched out the door.
