Hayward-based OptiSolar Inc., a producer of solar power panels and related components, has temporarily suspended construction on a massive manufacturing facility in McClellan Park. Company spokesman Alan Bernheimer said installation of equipment on site will continue, and construction -- primarily retrofitting an existing 1 million-square-foot warehouse -- is scheduled to resume Jan. 5. "Some modifications of equipment are being done offshore, so we can continue with the installation (part) of the project, and we don't have to rush ahead with the construction while those modifications are being made," he said. Bernheimer said the temporary suspension would not negatively affect the construction budget. When finished, the McClellan Park facility will produce solar panels. OptiSolar said the local plant will be the largest photovoltaic solar panel plant in North America. OptiSolar also has a manufacturing facility at its Hayward headquarters. ...

In an odd bit of balance, McClellan, who endorsed Obama , was on with former Clinton press secretary Joe Lockhart. Mika Brzezinski guest-hosted for Gregory. Lockhart went first, and predictably proclaimed that Obama "made no mistakes" in his press conference today. No prize for candor, but what do you expect?
