Source: bungalowbillscw.blogspot.com --- 7 days ago J.D. Hayworth took some heat for painting war stripes last week on John McCain in an attack Ad. Apparently it didn't discourage Hayworth from continuing attacking McCain on the grounds of conservatism. If you look at the Ad today compared to the Ad last week, John McCain has turned noticeably bluer, which I am sure alludes to something that defines the very character of John McCain. McCain has seldom taken the Founder's Red pill. I guess all that crossing the party lines for a more liberal stance on things is changing McCain's complexion these days. ...

But two things are already clear: McCain and his staff don’t like Hayworth much — and Hayworth may well spend the rest of the campaign trying to poke McCain in the eye politically, just to provoke a reaction. McCain is angry after being portrayed as an Avatar On Thursday afternoon, McCain aides blasted out a press release that at first seemed a little cryptic. Source: blogs.reuters.com --- 9 days ago An attack Ad this week daubing Arizona Senator John McCain with blue face-paint like a cobalt-toned creature from the sci-fi blockbuster film ”Avatar” triggered a row in the desert state’s increasingly heated Republican primary race. Fiery conservative challenger J.D. Hayworth launched the Ad this week attacking McCain as a fake conservative, with a tag line that reads “John McCain, nominee for Best Conservative Actor.” The Ad, showing a slightly uneasy looking McCain tinted blue, channels the 3-D epic “Avatar” about the battle for survival of a turquoise-hued alien species, which is up for a Best Picture Oscar at this weekend’s Academy Awards. In the political spectrum, blue represents the Democratic Party. Last month, combative talk show host and former congressman Hayworth launched a challenge to McCain, appealing to the party’s right-wing base in Arizona, a state McCain has represented in the Senate since 1986. Hayworth is assailing McCain’s long record of working with Democrats who control an increasingly partisan Congress, in what analysts have predicted will be a bitter, hard-fought campaign that lays bare ideological fault lines at the heart of the Republican Party. McCain’s campaign on Thursday asked Hayworth to take down or apologize for the “insulting online Ad,” although Hayworth subsequently posted a second version that only added more blue tint to McCain’s face, further stoking the row. “The Hayworth campaign obviously ...

Source: tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com --- 9 days ago Sen. John McCain's campaign (R-AZ) is strongly objecting to a new online fundraising Ad from his opponent in the Republican primary, former Rep. J.D. Hayworth, depicting McCain's face in blue warpaint. The online fundraising Ad offers up McCain as a potential Oscar winner, as "nominee for best conservative actor." The Arizona Republic speculated that the Ad may have been a reference to the movie Avatar . The Hayworth campaign has put up a revised version that changes McCain's skin color to a dark blue, in addition to the lighter blue warpaint, making an Avatar connection more obvious. Senate Minority Whip Jon Kyl (R-AZ), a McCain ally, told the Republic : Ads like this have no place in the Republican primary, and J.D. Hayworth should immediately take it down and apologize," McCain campaign manager Shiree Verdone told the paper: "Ex-Congressman J.D. Hayworth should immediately apologize and and take down his latest online Ad, which is an outrageous offense to John McCain's lifetime of honorable service to our state and nation, and insulting to Native Americans here in Arizona and across America." Hayworth spokesman Jason Rose responded to the calls to take down the Ad, telling the Republic : "We respectfully decline the request and would encourage Senator McCain to get a sense of humor. After all, if Sunday's show did have an award for best election year flip-flopping and transparent conservative conversion, the incumbent would surel ...

Source: s.azcentral.com --- 9 days ago The alternative version of that controversial J.D. Hayworth Ad mocking John McCain colors McCain's face blue to make him look more like a character out of the sci-fi smash "Avatar." Hayworth, a former Republican Arizona congressman and KFYI radio talk show host running in this year's Senate primary, on Thursday drew the ire of the four-term GOP incumbent McCain's campaign by posting an Ad on the Drudge Report defacing his photo with what appeared to be blue warpaint. We're including the second, "blueface" version of the "Avatar" Ad with this blog post. Is it better or worse than the first version? If they hadn't done that, of course, it's not clear anyone would have ever seen the image that got Kyl so worked up; I hadn't, until I got the press release in my e-mail, and within about 10 minutes, it had been replaced on Drudge with a Netflix ...
