Am I the only person wondering how mortgage rates that are roughly the same as a year ago, a bank base rate that is lower, inflation that looks likely to have peaked, and unemployment that is expected to rise at worst by 1-1.5 percentage points in the coming year really can add up to economic conditions that "are arguably the worst they've been in 60 years"? ... Castle, pension fund, depreciating illiquid asset... HOLMDEL -- Police went to the Holmdel Motor Inn to investigate complaints about a loud party, and they arrested a Middletown man, who is accused of punching an officer and a Tinton Falls man, who is accused of breaking a window in the room, authorities said. Police also reported they charged two other people with underage drinking at about 12:10 a.m. Monday. Steven Ettis, 21, of the Belford section of Middletown, was wanted on an outstanding Fair Haven municipal court warrant, police said. Police took him into custody on that warrant, and they also charged him with possession of a prescription drug, obstruction, disorderly conduct and aggravated assault on a police officer, Detective Sgt. Louis Torres said. The assault charge was filed because Ettis, who had been handcuffed behind his back, managed to maneuver his arms in front of his body, and when the officer tried to remove him from the patrol car, he punched the policeman, Torres said. Police said they also arrested Christopher Rosado, 20, of Tinton Falls on charges of criminal mischief and underage drinking. Matthew Guido, 18, of Belford and Shae C. Goodwin, 19, of Atlantic Highlands also were charged with underage drinking. Patrolmen Sean McGraw, Michael Hughes, and Robert Philhower, and Sgt. Vincent Imperato handled the investigation. Bail for Ettis was set at $12,500. The other three were released on their own recognizance. -- Michelle Sahn ... Source: news.toonzone.net --- 22 days ago
