by Ryan Wilson Filed under: Colts , AFC South , NFL Fans The Colts won arguably their biggest game of an up-and-down season Sunday, defeating the Steelers 24-20 in Pittsburgh. Peyton Manning looked as sharp as ever, the offensive line kept him well-protected, and Reggie Wayne was his usual productive self. Marvin Harrison ended the day with three catches for 37 yards, but he dropped two potentially big passes -- including a likely touchdown -- and his performance has the Indianapolis Star 's Bob Kravitz pretty worked up. In addition to suggesting that Harrison, the 36-year-old, 13-year vet, "either ... can't play anymore or he has lost interest in playing," Kravitz also offers this very frank assessment : Indy Writer Wonders if Marvin Harrison Is Just 'Going Through Motions' originally appeared on NFL FanHouse on Tue, 11 Nov 2008 16:05:00 EST . Marvin is not playing well this year. I don't need Greggggggggg Doyel to tell me that. He had some big drops against the Steelers that were magnified because Marvin is Marvin. If Terrell Owens or Braylon Edwards had made those drops, no one would have cared. They are known as ball droppers (ok, stop snickering). Marvin is known as "Ninja Hands," and not because he knows how to beat the crap out of someone and throw them out of his bar. He snatched passes from the air like a Kung Fu Master snatches flies from the air with his chopsticks. This year, the master is slipping, but that is not a cause for panic. At 36 years old, Marvin Harrison is still one of the fastest WRs in football. This is not like Jerry Rice, who was never that fast and was slower than my grandmother in the twilight of his career. Marvin is still in great shape and can still make the big play (ask Chris McAlister). And after a week of extra harsh criticism, Marvin responded in typical Marvin fashion: He shut up and let his play talk for him. Marvin caught 9 balls for 77 yards and a TD. The TD was a thing of beauty, a slant caught four yards from the endzone. Marvin dragged two defenders into the endzone with him... from fours yards out. Marvin's improved play was the result of the Colts doing something different with him on offense. In the game recap comments , jay16 accurately conveys that change : Marvin Harrison- I’ll be the first one to say on here, that I ... Source: www.stampedeblue.com --- 2 hours ago
A good FanPost on this popped up recently , and I'd like to highlight some things that will, likely, get mentioned in light of Plaxico Burress shooting himself out of football, essentially. Unless you've lived under a rock, you know Plaxico Burress accidentally shot himself this past weekend at a NY nightclub. He then tried to hide the injury, the weapon, and his real name when he eventually checked into a hospital. NYPD charged Burress with possession of an unlicensed firearm. The next day, the Giants suspended him and placed him on the inactive roster. He will not play again in 2008, and his career with the Giants is over. Make no mistake, this is a career-threatening f@&k up. No team will ever give Plaxico Burress the kind of money he just signed for with the Giants. In fact, several teams will indeed pass on him because they simply do not want to deal with yet another dumbass headcase. Earlier this year, Burress was on top of the world, having scored the game winning TD in the Super Bowl to help beat the then-undefeated Patriots. Now, he is garbage. So, the eventual question many will ask is How is Plax's incident any different from what happened to Marvin Harrison? Well, here are the answers: Plaxico Burress discharged an unlicensed handgun in a close, public space. Marvin Harrison didn't shoot anyone. He didn't fire a gun at any one person, according to police. Plaxico Burress tried to hide the fact that he'd done something ... Source: www.stampedeblue.com --- 13 hours ago
We just posted a new item over at Midwest Sports Fans talking about the Plaxico Burress case and comparing it to the shooting investigation involving Marvin Harrison from earlier this year. And the basic question is why has there been such a drastic treatment of the two men? Obviously there are many differences in the case: --Marvin has not been charged criminally --Marvin does not have the history of being a bad teammate like Plaxico etc. But there are also differences that seem a lot worse in the Harrison case, like the fact that the alleged act hurt someone other than himself. I am wondering if anyone has heard anything recently on the Harrison case. I have not, nor could I find anything online since October when the civil suit was announced. It seems strange that everything has gone so quiet, when the last update was that the criminal investigation was still open -- and the evidence certainly looked pretty damning for Marvin, even in the best case scenario (which is that he didn't pull the trigger but someone else used his gun). I think it is only fair as so many people throw stones at Plaxico to remember that he is not the only wide receiver getting into trouble with guns. It does seem, however, that the differences in their reputations and locker room demeanor are creating the difference in how these cases are viewed. And maybe more will come out about the Harrison case later, and it will become a big issue again. Bu ... Source: blackandgold.com --- 23 days ago

Honestly, with all the fines that have been going around the league because of retard Roger Goodell, you would think they would have something to say about Marvin Harrison! “Oh wait, Haven’t you heard? I was under the impression that everyone heard yeah ! yeah the bird bird bird bird is the word!” No seriously, though [...] ...

Posted by ESPN.com's Paul Kuharsky HOUSTON -- Andre Johnson 's first quarter touchdown made him the Houston Texans all-time leading scorer for a non-kicker. With his touchdown, Johnson passed running back Domanick Williams (known as Domanick Davis for most of his career) for first place in franchise history. The 31-yard score broke a tie between Johnson and Williams, who had 28 career touchdowns and 168 points. Johnson, an unassuming guy who's a great combination of size and speed, has suffered with his team's inconsistency at quarterback this season. This is the fifth game Matt Schaub has missed. The team has talked some about how they hope Schaub-to-Johnson could someday be something like Peyton Manning -to- Marvin Harrison . They've got a long way to go to get there, but it's a nice aspiration. The conversation about Johnson on the ESPN broadcast has been about how he's not a diva like some of the league's best-known receivers. Houston has no interest in him developing into one of those, and he won't. He's got a month's worth of games with Schaub, who is due to be back in the lineup next week at Green Bay, to resume building the connection the team hopes can take off for a full season next year. ... Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez had only 13 yards receiving Week 13 at Cleveland -- his fewest since Week 5 at Houston. He had two receptions. Gonzalez can have the occasional big game, but he has to split looks with Marvin Harrison. You also can't expect him to perform well when QB Peyton Manning throws for only 125 yards, like he did Sunday. He has a decent chance of playing well Week 14 against the Bengals, though, so use him as a No. 3 Fantasy WR. ... Source: sdg.scout.com --- 11 days ago

The Cardinals top three receivers are on pace to reach 1,000 yards receiving this year. It would be the fifth time that's been done in NFL history. At his current pace, Larry Fitzgerald would finish with 1,406 yards and 10 touchdowns. Anquan Boldin would have 1,077 yards and 17 touchdowns and Steve Breaston would have 1,109 and two touchdowns.
