On October 30th, 2006, I was frantically searching craigslist for tickets to the Rolling Stones concert that would take place a day later. Feeling adventurous, I responded to an ad placed by an “older man” looking for a “woman aged 25 or younger” to attend the concert as his date. The ad requested that I submit a photo and 200 words or less as to why I thought I was worthy enough to be his date. Suffice it to say, this didn’t work out. The next day (after the concert was postponed a day because Mick Jagger had laryngitis), I stumbled on another listing that was casting individuals to be in an “as yet to be titled Rolling Stones Documentary.” I submitted my photo and received a call 20 minutes later with details to meet in the basement of a school that was two blocks away from the venue. It was here that I learned that Martin Scorsese would be filming a documentary about two Rolling Stones concert and was casting the entire front row. There were about 100 of us, ranging in age from young hipsters to aging hippies; that were escorted to the venue an hour early and seated accordingly in the first 5 rows. Mac and cheese. Bacon and eggs. Robert De Niro and Martin Scorsese. While not delicious as the former two, the latter duo is among contemporary cinema's most-loved actor/director pairings. And they are about to make another movie together. Variety is reporting the pair will team-up for a big-screen version of "I Heard You Paint Houses", the biography of Frank "the Irishman" Sheera, a mob enforcer who is thought to have been responsible for more than 25 mob killings. One of his victims, he says, was union boss Jimmy Hoffa. Scorsese will direct and De Niro will portray Sheeran. The book was written by Charles Brandt. The pair was worked together on such classics as Mean Streets , Raging Bull , Taxi Driver and Goodfellas , and not-so-classics like Casino , The King of Comedy , and Cape Fear .
