Hi All, As we have less than 5 spots left I'd like to remind everyone of the invitation to join us on a 10 day spearfishing trip a buddy of Mine and I are running to Alijos Rocks, Baja California on Oct 28-Nov 6, 2008. Full details are available at www.SpearTrips.com (http://www.spearfishing.com/). This trip will leave out of San Diego and head 450 miles south of the U.S./Mexico border and 155 miles off of the Baja coast to the very remote small rock outcroppings known as Rocas Alijos or Alijos Rocks. Alijos Rocks has some of the most virgin diving around due to it's extremely remote location. On the way down to Alijos and on the return leg we will also be making a stop to dive the incredible waters of San Benito Islands San Benito Islands offers up a vibrant mix of colorful southern California undersea life in its magnificent kelp beds. This is pristine California diving like it was 100 years ago with lush kelp beds loaded with temperate and tropical fish species. Home to unbelievable amounts of abalone and lobster, and pinnacles covered in thick invertebrate life and purple Hydrocoral. Offshore San Benito Islands offers opportunities to see mobulas, hammerhead sharks, whale sharks and even Marlin! Freedivers will run into frequent large schools of Yellowtail and the elusive White Sea Bass. After experiencing San Benito Islands, we continue our journey south to latitudes where the water warms up as the Pacific Current turns westward ... Source: www.associatedcontent.com --- 25 days ago

Title: Buried Cosmos Fandom: Harvest Moon: Another Wonderful Life Disclaimer: Not Mine. Never will be. Word. Prompt: #111-Antikythera (I used the device as my prompt.) Warnings: Not too bad, but some heavy romance/ mild sexual themes. Rating: Eventual T, for sexual themes. Word Count: Around 1,800 Summary: In the blinding bliss of a fresh marriage, the responsibility and weight of life ahead seems far removed from the love of a soulmate, a new spouse, and a new beginning. Even Jill is devoid of the vision of her future as Marlin becomes the completion of her full circle, even though she's sure the first years of marriage are the most delicate. This is the missing story of those three years skipped, the truth behind the facade of two newlyweds. A feather, the sultry hue of cerulean. The sun catches upon it and makes it glitter. Silver specks peek from the deep indigo, contrasting it. They look like the gleam of stars in a clear night’s sky…elegant, dazzling, perfect. Lovely. My dirty hands tremble, and it looks as if I am trying to balance the fine, delicate object over my calluses, my blisters, the earth in which I sow seeds. I am not attractive, never dreamed of receiving this gorgeous feather. I am a simple farmer, nothing more or less. Yet here I stand, a shocked girl who can scarcely draw breath at the position she has been placed in. The dark-haired man in front of me chortles as he studies my reaction. “Why are you so surpris ... Source: anarchangel.blogspot.com --- 32 days ago
There has been a serious deficiency in our household for the past couple months. For the past few years, I've had a lovely little Marlin 880sq; a heavy barreled target .22 boltie , with a low powered fixed scope, and a reasonably comfy synthetic stock. Sweet shooter, if a little muzzle heavy; as you would expect with a heavy barrel and synthetic stock. Of course that just made it more stable; and it was very nice off a rest or a bipod . I say was, though that is inaccurate; it still IS a sweet shooter, but it's no longer MY sweet shooter. Really, it was only temporarily Mine in the first place. A few years ago, Kim was selling off some of his guns, and I bought it (and a 625) from him; with the proviso that whenever he felt like it he could buy it back. Well, in March or April, he dropped me a line to say "hey, whenever you can arrange it, I'd love my Marlin back"; and in May, I sent it on its way to him. This unfortunately left us without any kind of .22 rifle; a critical household deficiency indeed. This weekend, we corrected that deficiency, with one of these (Big 5 had them on sale for $60 off list): Yes yes I know, everyone and their grandmother has a 10/22... which is kind of why we got one actually; because they are so popular, there's so much stuff for them. Everyone has parts, everyone makes accessories, everyone knows how to use them, work on them etc.... Fact is, there isn't a semi-auto .22 out there I'm particularly fond of ... It has come to my attention that there is a cat resident in Diploville. The evidence presents itself in the form of foul-smelling deposits, often secreted, like antipersonnel mines, slightly below the surface. I have indeed been rendered powerless by the dastardly booby traps on more than one occasion. Revenge, it is often said, is a dish best served cold - that'll be the little bowl of milk then, placed strategically in the middle of the lawn 25 metres from the Diplo back door. The chosen killing zone benefits from good morning light, a clear and safe backdrop and is easily hosed down. Much discussion has taken place on the subject of weapon selection, I have been in touch with a retired SAS officer friend of Mine and in the true spirit of "who dares wins" we settled on this basic selection from the Diplo armoury. My own personal favourite would be the Marlin 30.30 for it's sheer brute force, the Martini action Greener GP is a handy piece with a very tight choke producing a solid pattern at the range we're interested in, the grenade, frankly, is a distraction and not really appropriate here. In the interest of good neighbourly relations I plan to serve notice on the cat's owner. Ooh, the Expedient 9mm submachine gun isn't ready yet or that would have top slot - obviously. MORE FIREPOWER! ... Source: hawksbillcabin.blogspot.com --- 43 days ago
Before we get to the actual business purpose of the trip - the events at USC, here is another entry on sightseeing in the LA area. Among the people I try to link up with whenever I am on the west coast is a friend of Mine from Jacobs - Ryan. We worked together from 1999 to 2001 or so, and stayed in touch after that, until he eventually moved to LA for the USC MBA program. Ryan is at Toyota now, and lives in San Pedro on top of the hill. Here are two photos of the Port of LA and surrounding San Pedro (or "the 'dro" as he calls it) taken from the deck of his house. After some refreshements, we took a short walk to the Korean Freedom Bell park that is near Ryan's house. This park is featured in a scene in the movie "The Usual Suspects" - another fun thing about visiting the area. Here are Bill and I near the pogoda. I realized when I uploaded these I don't have one of Ryan or Marlin, his Boston Terrier, who took the walk with us. Closing out this entry with a couple of photos from the Long Beach Airport, taken during our departure. This first one is of the tower, taken from the observation deck that overlooks the airfield. Besides the deco-era design, of note is a series of exhibits on aviation history that took place here - there is a long tradition that centers on the World War II effort. If you take Jet Blue to Long Beach it is definitely worthwhile to take a little longer to check it out. Also, this last photo from the observation pla ... If you've seen "Dumbo" you're familiar with this little lullaby, and even if you haven't you might know it anyway; it shows up here and there in pop culture, Bette Midler covered it once, etc. The lyrics are harmless, pretty sweet, and it's a nice tune. It also makes me want to bawl my eyes out. Now, once again, if you've seen "Dumbo" you'll kind of know why: it is used in the SADDEST little way; that whole scene is a tear-jerker. Also, however, I have a reason beyond that.... When I first became pregnant with Dorothy I had minor symptoms creep up on me that I totally disregarded for a few days. The usual really: boobs felt weird, little bit of spotting, and low-level queasiness. It was the fact that the queasiness didn't go away after a few days that made me think, gee, I wonder - should I take a pregnancy test?? Naaaaah. At the end of the weekend, after having no appetite since Friday, I had decided I'd wait out the week and see, but as I walked to the bus stop Monday morning I couldn't stop thinking about it and I began to believe more and more that it was NOT a false alarm this time. The rest of the day it was on my mind all day long and then "Baby Mine" popped into my head, and the reality of the possibility hit me, and I almost burst into tears. Er. HAPPY tears. ;) (It was augmented by the memory of the scene at the beginning of "Finding Nemo" where Marlin cradles the last remaining egg and says "Nemo..." and I LOSE IT EVERY TIME ...
