The Obama administration is preparing to dole out a major chunk of change to Illinois Democrat Senate candidate Alexi Giannoulias and his family in an effort to bail out his failing bank. From Chicago Business , March 8 "Giannoulias family could walk away from Broadway Bank collapse with $15 million tax refund": The family of Democratic U.S. Senate nominee Alexi Giannoulias stands to collect more than $10 million in federal tax refunds even if its Broadway Bank fails, which Mr. Giannoulias said last week is likely. A $75-million loss at the struggling lender last year generated tax benefits potentially worth between $12 million and $15 million to Mr. Giannoulias, his two brothers and his mother. According to MSNBC Giannoulias was with Obama at the "White House for [the] Greek Independence Day celebration," last Tuesday. No word on what was discussed, or if the two held meetings with Chicago campaign operative and chief Obama advisor in the White House David Axlerod. Giannoulias is being challenged for the Obama seat, currently held by Sen. Roland Burris, by Republican Rep. Mark Kirk of the northern Lakes area, near Chicago. Now, this morning, in an interview with the Chicago Sun-Times, Kirk is criticizing Giannoulias for his questionable ties. Loans to convicted criminals, much subsidized by US Taxpayers, of up to $52 million From the Sun-Times : U.S. Rep Mark Kirk said today that Thursday's arrest of a Giannoulias Family friend and ...

U.S. Rep Mark Kirk said today that Thursday's arrest of a Giannoulias Family friend and bank customer brings the amount of money Broadway Bank has loaned to criminals to $52 million. State Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias, Kirk's Democratic opponent for U.S. Senate, has said that as chief loan officer of his family's bank from 2002 to 2006, he did not check loan applicants' arrest records. Kirk calls that "reckless." ...

Internet Powerhouse says Eric Massa is probably gay, and certainly acts nutty. But like a fool in a Shakespearean play, Massa’s claims may actually be closer to the truth than we realize or the Washington media will admit. After all, we know there are homosexuals on Capitol Hill, Martin says. It is illogical to believe they are not equally distributed throughout Washington’s media establishment. For example, the Associated Press assigned an apparently gay reporter to cover Mark Kirk’s U. S. Senate campaign. Martin predicts we have not seen the last of homosexual scandals in the 2010 election cycle. The site addresses a number of so-called "myths" about the bank, including "Alexi was Tony Rezko 's banker" (he points out that Kirk has actually taken campaign funds from Rezko ) and "If the bank fails, taxpayers are on the hook" (not so, he says; the FDIC isn't taxpayer-funded, and the bank took no TARP money). On February 19, Mark Kirk, a Republican Congressman from Illinois running for a promotion to the US Senate, delivered a speech at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs to share his views on Iran policy. While initial reports didn't indicate anything much new was said by the Representative, who has been calling for a gasoline "quarantine" on Iranians since 2007, audio from the event has just been released that reveals some troubling insights into Kirk's gasoline embargo rationale. During the Q&A, Kirk brushed aside concerns that a gasoline embargo will hurt innocent Iranians and stated that, in fact, the US should punish innocent Iranians as a means to engineer anti-government protests in Iran: More... ...

During the Q&A, Kirk brushed aside concerns that a gasoline embargo will hurt innocent Iranians and stated that, in fact, the US should punish innocent Iranians as a means to engineer anti-government protests in Iran: Q: The oil embargo or quarantine sounds like a very plausible alternative … why the opposition from the administration? Kirk: Um, in a discussion I recently had with administrative officials they said we would feel worried that it would hurt the Iranian people… (laughs) But it’s that actual pain that I think has to be imposed , in my view, a gasoline quarantine would immediately trigger anti-American demonstrations in downtown Tehran, organized by the regime. But over time the regime fears large groups of people gathering because as you know a mob can turn very quickly. When you hear that you can’t get enough gasoline that day, and you read in the state controlled paper that it’s Barack Obama’s fault, you’ll be mad at Barack Obama that week. B ...

CHICAGO - U.S. Senate nominee Alexi Giannoulias released the following statement in response to the unemployment figures released today and to Republican Congressman Mark Kirk's continued opposition of economic recovery efforts, which include his vote yesterday against the HIRE act, a jobs bill that passed the House of Representatives with bipartisan support: "Today's unemployment numbers provided another sign that the economic recession has hit bottom, but that a strong recovery remains elusive.  Nearly every economist agrees that now is not the time to halt efforts to stimulate the economy.  After the small jobs bill passed the House yesterday, the Senate should immediately get back to work and pass an extension of unemployment insurance that will help thousands of Illinois families and more tax breaks for small businesses that start hiring again. yes ...
