Oakland Athletics second baseman Mark Ellis will undergo surgery on his right shoulder Friday back home in Arizona. ... Source: www.redreporter.com --- 29 days ago
Unfortunately, his shoulder is hurt , requiring surgery. He's out for the season. I don't know if I like this. I've been firmly behind Slyde's drive to sign Ellis, as you know. But I'd think a shoulder injury could be problematic. The good news is he's no longer a 4/$28M player; he could probably be had for 1 or 2 years at $4-5M each now, saving money for the inevitable Holliday trade/extension. Thoughts? ... Mark Ellis will sit out the rest of the season after being diagnosed with a torn labrum in his right shoulder, the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Ellis has barely played in weeks, so the writing was on the wall. He's yet to decide on surgery. Whatever he chooses, his value as a free agent takes a major hit with the news. Perhaps he'll stay with the A's on a one-year deal and try to rebuild his value. Oakland will keep using Eric Patterson at second base for now. Rotoworld ... Mark Ellis' right shoulder injury, one that was supposed to just keep him out a few days, has turned into a season-ending injury that may require surgery. Ellis, who rejoined the team today after going for further tests, said he has chips in his cartilage, in addition to a torn labrum. The labrum has been torn for "four or five years," Ellis said, but the cartilage problem is more of an issue. Ellis said Dr. John Frazier, the A's orthopedist, recommended surgery, but he is going to get a second opinion. Ellis said he has been told the rehab time for the surgery is three to four months, so he'll be OK for spring training if he does have the operation. Ellis admitted the timing of the injury is bad, because he's about to become a free agent. "It's definitely not good, but I know I can still play," he said. "I know it's not the end of my career." ... Source: www.athleticslocker.com --- 26 days ago

By Bud L. Ellis braves.today.com ATLANTA — Everybody knows the Braves ended up being sellers at the trade deadline, shipping Mark Teixeira to the Los Angeles Angels and, for all intents, waving the white flag on the 2008 season. But during the first three weeks of July, a stretch where the Braves bounced from six to seven and [...] ...

Alright, it's that time of the week again. . .time to check out who's going to be out of this Monday night's game for both teams involved. The Saints have the longest injury report of any team the Beloved Purple have faced to this point in the season. Honestly, this thing is massive, and a lot of guys are already listed as "out." The Saints are still a pretty good team, but it's clear that the Vikings won't be seeing a New Orleans team that's at 100%. The Vikings, as we've documented throughout the week, have their own injury problems to worry about. Let's start with the Saints. Player Position Injury Friday Practice Game Status Marques Colston WR Thumb DNP Out Sedric Ellis DT Knee DNP Out Aaron Glenn CB Ankle DNP Out David Patten WR Knee DNP Out Jeremy Shockey TE Hernia DNP Out Chris Reis S Hamstring DNP Doubtful Mark Campbell TE Hamstring Full Probable Terrance Copper WR Hamstring Full Probable Troy Evans LB Ankle Full Probable Randall Gay CB Hamstring Full Probable Jonathan Goodwin WR Hamstring Full Probable Mike Karney RB Ankle Full Probable Olaniyi Sobomehin RB Shoulder Full Probable Aaron Stecker RB Hamstring Full Probable This injury report is part of what makes the Saints so frightening. They don't have Colston, they don't have Patten, they don't have Shockey. . .and you can still pretty much pencil Drew Brees in for 300 yards and 2 scores every week at a minimum. When their offense gets completely healthy, they're go ... Source: www.iwcp.co.uk --- 40 days ago
