We've got three risers and three fallers on the MVN NFL Stock Market! Risers Player:  RB Marion Barber, Dallaws Cowboys Barber has had a very effective four year career, no doubt, but the one thing he had yet to accomplish was that he could run on the Washington Redskins.  In a game that the Cowboys would absolutely not have won without his efforts, Barber led the Cowboys from behind, capitalizing on a Tony Romo TD pass, and doing his best to run out the clock, which was more than enough.  The Cowboys get a reprieve now, and should they get to 8-4 with two home games against San Francisco and Seattle, the Cowboys will be officially back in the playoff hunt, and all thanks to the efforts of MB III. Team: The New York Jets While I agree with anyone who argues that the 7-3 record is flat out misleading thanks to the softest schedule in quite some time in the NFL, the Jets have finally put themselves in significantly better position to win the AFC East than at any point during the Bill Belichick-era in New England, and that includes 2002 when the Jets won the division on the last day of the season.  Now, all they have to do is find a way to beat the Miami Dolphins head to head on the last day of the year.  The Dolphins have the softest remaining schedule, and I see both teams heading into the Week 17 showdown at 10-5, or perhaps 9-6 in the Jets case.  Either way, if the Jets win, they're in as AFC East Champs! Prospect:  DE Brian Or ...

A suspect arrested in a string of more than 30 Uptown burglaries this summer may also be tied to the burglary of Cowboys running back Marion Barber's Dallas apartment earlier this year, WFAA-TV reported tonight. Dallas police recently determined that some of the property recovered from a stolen vehicle driven by Damon Joseph West, 32, when he was arrested in May belonged to Mr. Barber, including a football signed by quarterback Tony Romo. The football and other property were returned to Mr. Barber this week, police said. Mr. Barber reported the burglary at his Far North Dallas apartment in May, a Dallas police report said. The report estimated more than $77,000 worth of property was stolen from his apartment near the Dallas North Tollway while Mr. Barber was away between March 31 and May 21. Most of the stolen property still has yet to be recovered. --Scott Goldstein ...

Tashard Choice is giving Marion Barber a breather on this series. Cory Procter is in at left guard for Kyle Kosier, too. It doesn't appear that Kosier, who missed eight of the first nine games with a foot injury, is hurt again. He's standing next to Brad Johnson in the sideline. ...

Marion Barber rushed for a career-high 142 yards on 28 carries in the Cowboys' win over Green Bay, which was the first game left guard Kyle Kosier played this season. Kosier re-injured his foot late in that game and didn't return until Sunday night's win over the Redskins. Barber turned in his second-highest yardage total of the season, rushing for 114 yards on 24 carries against a Washington team that had shut him down consistently over his career. Kosier's presence in Barber's big games probably isn't a coincidence. Despite a holding penalty that negated a 21-yard run, Kosier was outstanding against the Redskins. There were a few occasions that Kosier and C Andre Gurode overwhelmed a defensive tackle with double-teams, planting him in the grass several yards downfield. "Having Kyle Kosier back is going to help us a lot," Tony Romo said. ...

So far this week we've learned that MBIII would rather his legs and piano-playing fingers do his talking. The networks and local reporters consider him a stand-up guy but not a go-to guy come interview time. Never was it more obvious than Sunday night when he had a terrific game against the Washington Redskins and NBC bypassed him during the post-game in favor of Tony Romo and Jay Ratliff. If you've read a legitimate quote from "The Piano Man" anywhere since and share it, you'll get 10 points. You may have to look back to Duane Thomas in 1971 to find a more silent Cowboys star come talk time. Here are two more takes on Barber from a couple of savvy media veterans _ ESPN's Eddie Werder and the voice of the Cowboys Brad Sham. ...

A healthy Marion Barber carried the ball only eight times when the Cowboys and Redskins met earlier this season. You may remember. It was mentioned a time or two in the days following the Cowboys loss. Well, does Washington expect Barber to get more than eight carries Sunday evening? Defensive tackle Cornelius Griffin paused for a moment and grinned before answering. "I'm sure he will,'' Griffin said. "They have a good offensive line and I'm sure they'll try to run the ball.'' ...

Cowboys PR chief Rich Dalyrymple was the only man who stopped Marion Barber once the fourth quarter started. Dalyrymple practically had to form tackle Barber, whose most elusive moves come when he's avoiding the media, to keep him from bolting to the bus without talking about his phenomenal performance in the win over the Redskins. Not that the workhorse said a whole lot during his two-minute chat with reporters. "The fellas up front got it going," Barber said, "and they just kept making those holes." The offensive line definitely deserves some credit for whupping Washington's front seven with the game on the line. But Barber, who finished with 114 yards on 24 carries and 39 yards on six catches, was the primary reason the Cowboys were able to slam the door on the Redskins at FedEx Field. Not counting a couple kneeldowns by Tony Romo, Barber got the ball on 16 of the Cowboys offense's 19 plays in the fourth quarter. That included every 11 consecutive clock-killing plays on the game's final drive, moving 49 yards and milking almost six minutes. "The runner is a tough son of a [beep]," offensive coordinator Jason Garrett said. "He loves those situations and thrives on them. He did a heck of a job. That's just the way he is. He's a competitor. He has such great heart." Added TE Jason Witten: "Marion was a warrior. He fought for every yard. It wasn't easy. That's the way we're used to him playing, and at the end of the game, he just ...

Maybe Jason Garrett had a good reason for abandoning the run against the Redskins in the Cowboys' September loss. Marion Barber has averaged 3.3 yards per carry against the Redskins during his career. He has 63 yards on 29 carries (2.2 ypc) against Washington with Garrett calling the plays. Even if you throw out Barber's minus-6 yards on six carries in the Cowboys' mail-in loss in the regular-season finale last year, the numbers aren't pretty. A lot of backs struggle against the Redskins, who rank sixth in rushing defense this season and finished fourth last season. Cowboys RG Leonard Davis gave the Washington's front seven credit for being good players who hustle, but he said there's no reason the Cowboys shouldn't be able to run the ball against the Redskins. "It really wasn't anything they did," Davis said. "It was just that we didn't execute. That's the only thing that's happening to keep us from really getting him going." ...
