For those who don't like the floating steering wheel of Mario Kart Wii (because it lacks the realism of driving around a banana-spewing bulletmobile), this wheel mount by JTT isn't a bad solution. Using a suction cup to attach the wheel to any flat surface, the top tilts 120-degrees so you can compete old-lady or bus-driver-style. But for $28, we really wish it had the famous Chinese-girl-driving-wrong-on-one-way setting. Oh well. I guess good old fashioned psychotic "don't-cut-me-off"-motherfucker-Caucasian will still serve me as well as it always has. [ JTT via GoNintendo ] ...

If you own Mario Kart Wii , you have until this Friday, May 9 to make your final entries in the first worldwide online tournament. The tournament went live last week, and since then, we played a few rounds on its Mario Circuit challenge. The point of the tournament is to submit the lowest total finish time -- in other words, it's a time trial, but there are some twists. The silly thing is, no matter how well you've mastered Mario Circuit , getting a good time in this challenge still depends on luck, thanks to the fact that you're up against computer opponents. They behave as they would in the 100cc Grand Prix, which means you should expect a Blue Shell or two during the race. When the race begins, do a starting boost, but don't immediately do a wheelie if you're on a bike -- you'll likely bump against the opponent(s) ahead of you and get knocked to the side. Instead, try and get a drafting boost for the first few seconds. The big twist for the tournament is the two runaway Chain Chomps circling the track. On lap 1, you'll meet the first Chain Chomp just before the first turn in the middle of the track, and the second one past the tunnel, on the right-hand lane. And if you're fast enough, you should meet the second one again before the next lap. The Chomps keep moving even if you don't, so they'll likely appear a bit ahead or behind of their original locations as you continue to drive around.
