JOEL BEININ Professor of MIDDLE EAST History, Stanford University Giving a Report and Update from the MIDDLE EAST Part of the "Other Voices" televisions series. Joel Beinin, one of the country's leading experts on the MIDDLE EAST and a frequent guest on "Other Voices", has spent the past year in Egypt, where he served as Director of the MIDDLE EAST Studies Program at the American University in Cairo. As we welcome Joel back to the area, we’ll talk to him about his experiences living and teaching in Egypt, as well as getting an update on his particular area of expertise: the Israel-Palestine conflict. We’ll explore the current status of the "peace process", Israel’s increasing tensions with Iran and Syria, and the internal political turmoil in Israel. Joel Beinin has served as President of the MIDDLE EAST Studies Association of North America and as a contributing editor to MIDDLE EAST Report (a highly recommended resource).
