Konami's Koji Igarashi is the Castlevania guy. And when fans play a Castlevania game, they know, more or less, what they are getting themselves into. But Castlevania Judgement is different! It's a fighter, but now. And the early buzz around the game hasn't been so hot. Why does Igarashi think that is? When you have a franchise like this, that’s become popular in a certain type of game style and you change that so drastically, I understand the responses is going to be negative... I also felt a lot of the response was, I guess, unjustified in the sense that they based their [response] on just hearing about it or maybe seeing a couple of screen shots and making a whole assumption. Insert Igarashi sad face. Koji Igarashi Calls ‘Castlevania Judgment’ Fan Criticism ‘Unjustified’ [Multiplayer] [ Pic ] ...

In the wake of that Xbox 360 Final Fantasy XIII announcement, that old chestnut rumor resurfaced that Metal Gear Solid 4 was coming to the Xbox 360. Maybe it will one day, who knows. No idea what kinda deal Sony and Konami have worked out. Other Metal Gear Solid have certainly appeared on other platforms — Microsoft platforms, even. But Hideo Kojima does a good job of explaining how MGS4 was developed especially for the PS3: We had started to work on Metal Gear Solid 4 four years ago after finishing Metal Gear Solid 3 . At that time, we really didn't know what the PS3 was going to be like. So the first two years was all about experimenting, developing and trail and error. In the last two years, we've known what the PS3 is capable of, the specifications of it and how we can use utlitilize it. We finished the plot and built the game. The PS3 is a monster machine. That is why it's taken so much time to create MGS4 ... Since we were developing only for the Sony format, of course Sony has given up lots of advantages before the official release of the hardware. So we had many meetings with them to discuss the specifications, and we analyzed this black box quite a lot before it was released, and we experimented with it. And we gave Sony a lot of feedback, like "Can we do this?" or "Can we do that?" See? The two are totally linked. Hit the link below for the full interview clip, where Kojima says how he thinks the game controller, keyboar ...

Your thoughts on Konami's performance regarding online play over last 12 months or so. !st there was the PES debacle, now we have MGO causing major problems. Is it just me or have Konami dropped the ball with regards online play. Other developers manage to get things working relatively quickly, why the problems with Konami games. I think its an embarresment, the MGO issues just get bigger by the day, and the website is a joke, can anyone find how much the expansion pack costs? and how you purchase? Very amaturish if you ask me. ...

I came away from my first experience with Konami’s “Rock Revolution” a bit frustrated. The drums, while pleasantly complex, were daunting on the first go round. E3 provided another opportunity to step up to the plate. Six buttons and a kick pedal or not, I wanted to slide up the difficulty settings and put the drum [...] ...

John Koller , Sony s senior marketing manager for the PSP, confirmed during an E3 interview that the handheld's GPS attachment will be arriving in North America by next year. The accessory Koller discussed appears to be the same one Sony announced back in CES 2008 , following their announcement of Skype support for the PSP While a 2009 release does seem a long way off, Koller indicates it won't be arriving alone. The Sony exec also stated that the company is already looking into ways to use the handheld's GPS functionality for games. Sony is currently looking towards other publishers who may be interested in implementing the technology for their titles. "It changes the dynamics of GPS but also changes the way developers think about games on PSP because you can start integrating GPS into it," Koller said. On that note, some of the readers may recall Konami's Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops . The game was made famous - among other things - for its use of the PSP's GPS receiver to enable players to locate and recruit additional personnel. Aside from adding a new level of depth of to the game, it also made for a perfectly good reason for the player to step outside and get some fresh air. Koller hasn't announced exactly when North America's GPS attachment will be arriving, though, so check back with us for any more details. ...

We got not just one but two up-close looks at Konami’s Silent Hill: Homecoming at this year’s E3, and what we saw was encouraging.  Even among fans the series has its share of nonbelievers, folks who have grown increasingly frustrated with each release’s strict adherence to certain formulaic elements, such as a fixed camera and non-intuitive combat mechanics.  With a new developer on board – Double Helix Games – and some cool new ideas to implement from the latest release in the series, the PlayStation Portable-exclusive Silent Hill: 0rigins , Silent Hill: Homecoming is looking like it will offer the top-to-bottom restructuring that fans of the series have been waiting so long for, starting with versions for Xbox 360 and Windows PCs in addition to PlayStation 3. Click through for the goods. For those who need to be refreshed, this latest Silent Hill story follows Alex Shepard, a military man who is returning to his family’s home in Shepard’s Glen when the game opens.  Alex’s trip is not necessarily a happy one either; he’s been receiving subconscious suggestions – perhaps it’s a message? – that his father and brother are both in trouble.  Of course, Alex doesn’t settle in for some nice family time in Shepard’s Glen; instead, he finds himself wandering along the fog-shrouded, nightmare-infested streets of Silent Hill. Our first look at Silent Hill: Homecoming during E3 came at Konami’s press conference.  Here we got our first look ...
