The summer fire safety burn-ban will be lifted in King, Pierce, Snohomish, and Mason Counties at 8 a.m. this Friday. According to local fire marshalls, the ban is being lifted because area forests have enough moisture to "considerably reduce the risk of fire." That means if you've been partaking in President Bush's one-time favorite summer vacation activity-- clearing brush down on the ranch in Crawford --you are now free to burn that brush bonfire style. But no tossing tires, dead animals, plastics or other waste into your fires. Happy and safe burning folks! ... Source: www.washblog.com --- 2 days ago
King County sat out the state primary? According to the latest primary results , King County has the lowest voter percentage turnout in the state! With a 34.71% turnout and only 3000 ballots left to count as of 8/30. The next count is today,9/2. What? Are you kidding me? The supposed most progressive area of our state and the most populated? What happened ? Was this a revolt of the new T2 primary or did they not think the primary was important enough to participate? Whatever the reason, this really is sad. Cudos to the 34.71% that did turnout. ... Source: www.teamreba.com --- 6 days ago

As I was walking through the sea of people at Bumbershoot yesterday, not only could I not figure out what country I was in, but what County (I explain below). The day was filled with strange outfits, foreign music, and more Rockstar energy drinks than you can imagine. This is quite a different crowd than you'll find at your average fair in Eastern Washington. I really think that they need a good tagline for advertising, and based on my observations, I supposed that if you can do the Puyallap , then you can smoke Bumbershoot . Or at least pot. But what caught my eye even more than the 14-year-olds smoking cigarettes and people wearing Obama v-neck t-shirts was the King County Elections Booth. They were encouraging people to get registered to vote and to vote by mail. They put up this poster for people to see: This picture disturbed me because it made me stop to think about what kind of world I live in now. Is this really what voting has come to? Is this the kind person that we really want to decide who controls our government?? This is the literal and actual poster child for voting! Give me a break. I'm not saying that there is anything wrong with choosing to style your hair, pierce your body, or wear leather, but the point is that someone at King County elections, a "non-partisan" office decided that it would be a good idea to advertise voting with this picture. When you wonder about how fair the elections will be in King County this No ... Source: blog.seattlepi.nwsource.com --- 3 days ago

Board member Michael King refused to go into a closed session Wednesday night with two fellow board members to discuss filling vacant board seats for the unaccredited school district. "We got serious issues, and unless we get this straightened out, we won't get accreditation back," King told parents after the meeting. "I can't represent you in an illegal meeting and risk being prosecuted." ... Find more results for King County on RSSMicro.com |
