The two-time MVP with arguably the sharpest elbows, work ethic, and over all power in NBA history has the itch... It's reported that the "mailman" may consider coming out of retirement to teach current players how to play aggressive defense in a brutal Western Conference filled with big men.  No one actual believes Malone will consider coming out of retirement, no matter the offer. Plus, the season approaches and Malone's physical shape is a question mark. Would an old and possibly out of shape Malone help the young Utah squad? He's determination to play rock solid defense every game and the experience he could provide for players yet to peak on the defensive end of the court could help the frustrated Utah squad on their path to a NBA championship. On the other hand, an old Malone would possibly slow down a fast tempo team run by Olympic gold medalist Deron Williams who prefers to run the ball rather than stop for half court play. I personally believe it's a mistake. The Utah Jazz should focus on trying to land another big man (Boozer needs help) and shooting guard (no pure shooting guard) in the 2010 season. What do you think? www.rawsportsblog.com 4 Comments ...

In case you missed it, one of the Olympic commentators compared the Mailman to Lebron the other day.  I looked it up Mailman: 6'9" 259 lbs. Lebron:   6'8" 250 lbs. This comparison knocked me out.  I would have thought Malone was way bigger and taller than Lebron based on my memories of the 90% post play with 10% 15 foot wide open jumper Malone was great, but he moved like he had 50 pound weights in each shoe.  As Lebron gets older, you have to think he will develop more of a post-up game just so he can grab a breather and get some easier points on the offensive end.  Running all over the floor for 48 minutes isnt going to make sense anymore. Is there any doubt Lebron will be the best player ever?  Who cares what the stats say about Oscar Robertson, Wilt, and whoever...none of them played an all around dominant game like Lebron is developing.  Does anyone disagree?     ...

Karl Malone impregnated 13 year old girl It would be one thing if Malone was unable to financially provide for his son, but he made more than $100 million during his NBA career. The Salt Lake (Utah) Tribune reported that when Bell’s grandparents initially took Malone to court for paternity in 1986, his second year with [...] ...

In this May 21, 2004 file photo, Los Angeles Lakers' Karl Malone reacts to a call in the second quarter of game one of their NBA Western Conference Finals series against the Minnesota Timberwolves in Minneapolis. Second acts in sports aren't always pretty, even for the great ones. "You would like for Hall of Fame players to be able to finish the same place they started," Tennessee Titans coach Jeff Fisher said. ...

When I saw that Howard Schultz had dropped his lawsuit -- the last hope of returning the Sonics to Seattle -- the first thought that ran through my head was: One way or another, David Stern sure tends to get what David Stern wants. Also, whoever had the idea to pay the City of Seattle a small fortune in the event that Schultz's lawsuit went away sure knew a thing or two about leverage. Just a few months ago, it seemed Schultz's suit had some meat to it . Ron Hitley of Hornets247 , before evacuating the Crescent City: "The Hornets signed Sean Marks a few days ago, and I ate a strawberry yogurt today. Neither of these things will make much of a difference to the team." Karl Malone says he has been Jazz owner Larry Miller's unpaid nurse , has opened his own mini-Hall of Fame at his new Toyota dealership, still trains a ton, and is spending a lot of time writing in his journal. Dwight Jaynes was at the special service for Kevin Duckworth at Portland's Memorial Coliseum over the weekend: "It was an emotional two hours that brought home to me how fortunate I was to be a beat reporter covering those great Blazer teams of the early 1990s. Not because of how many games they won, but because of what terrific people they were. Harry Glickman, speaking at the memorial service, spoke about "winning with good people and he was so right. As I watched Buck Williams, Terry Porter, Jerome Kersey and Clyde Drexler (via videotape from Taiwan) speak s ...

I have been an NBA fan almost my entire life. I can't tell you how many times I have seen people like Clyde Drexler and Karl Malone in person, on TV, or in photographs. I know what those guys look like. But I'll tell you a true story. The first NBA-related trips I ever took was to the 2000 All-Star Game in the Bay Area. I was a newish freelancer at Inside Stuff, which was then the NBA's official magazine for teens. Somehow that meant we got special access to a closed hallway of some hotel where players came when they first arrived in town. Often with their agents, family members, or friends various players, administrators, coaches, and others ambled in and got their schedules for the weekend, their hotel assignments, and all that. Jeramie McPeek (who is a bigwig with the Suns now, and worked for the Suns even then) and I got to walk around in the hallway talking to whomever we chose. Pretty good access. But I'll tell you what, for all I thought I knew about the NBA, this was a little unsettling. It's one thing to be pretty sure that guy who see walking in is Tyrone Corbin. It's another thing entirely to walk up to him and say "Tyrone ..." Out of uniform, and out of any team context. ... I found myself bugging Jeramie just about every time someone walked in: "That's Elton Brand, right?" "Did I just see Rick Barry?" Since then I have even been in arenas, talking to other full-time NBA people -- reporters, agents, NBA staffers -- and ...

In the SALT LAKE TRIBUNE, Steve Luhm writes "think about Utah's sporting history, except that 30 seasons of NBA basketball are missing. Picture John Stockton not sending the Jazz to the Finals, or Karl Malone not winning two MVP awards. Imagine the 1993 All-Star Game that went overtime not being played in the Delta Center, or today's fans not being bedazzled by rising star Deron Williams. It could have happened that way, according to former coach, general manager and president Frank Layden, if Adrian Dantley had not spent seven of his 15 NBA seasons in Utah. ‘He played such an important role in those early years of the Jazz,' Layden said. ‘If not for him, maybe we aren't still here, in Salt Lake City.' On Friday night, Dantley joins the greatest players, coaches and contributors in the history of the game when he is inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. Dantley's former teammates couldn't be more elated. ‘He carried us, he was the franchise,' recalled Mark Eaton. ‘He was the guy you could count on for 30 [points] every night - the one bona fide All-Star we had.'" ...

Three things about Louisiana Tech 1. The Bulldogs will be quarterbacked by Taylor Bennett, who transferred to Louisiana Tech after a year as the starter at Georgia Tech. Bennett completed 49.5 percent of his passes and had a ratio of seven touchdowns to nine interceptions. 2. Louisiana Tech has a formidable 1-2 punch in the running game with Patrick Jackson (950 yards and eight touchdowns in 2007) and Daniel Porter (592 yards, six touchdowns). 3. Louisiana Tech has some very distinguished athletic alumni in Hall of Fame QB Terry Bradshaw and 14-time NBA All-Star Karl Malone. Key matchup ...

Here’s a whole bunch of stuff.  I haven’t posted in a bit, so I have a bunch of words to type here. Going back to the cuts, the only thing that really made me scratch my head was keeping Copeland Bryan.  Considering Spencer Johnson can fill in at DE, and the long snapper is a “DE” as well (even though he’ll never play it), I think this was sort of a luxury.  Yours truly would probably have liked to have kept another OL guy.  It also says to me that they might not be sold on Chris Ellis, even though I thought he “came on” late in camp. My tip of the hat goes to Youboty & Corto.  I had just about written him (Youboty) off.  Nice to see the light finally go on for the kid.  As far as Corto goes, you couldn’t ask for a better story.  He’s every WNY kid’s daydream.  Alluding to sireric’s popular and missed Tuesday morning trivia, how many WNY guys have ever got a chance to play for their hometown team?  “Not many” is the correct answer.  My Dad has a childhood friend who got a training camp shot back in the late 70’s.  Stan Baniasz’s name is still spoken with reverence around the krytime household. I’m also kind of surprised they kept Hamdan.  And I’m also kind of surprised one of the ST LBs didn’t make the cut.  Props go out to Bell and Johnson too.  If I see Karl Malone in a Bills’ jersey though, I will get some puke in my mouth, and it won’t be from the crow I’ve eaten… As far as Peters’ goes, I hope Eugene Parker comes back in the n ...

Last season, the Utah Jazz finished 1st in fouls, 24th in Total Rebounds and 22nd in Blocked Shots — not very impressive stats considering the frontcourt trio of Carlos Boozer, Paul Millsap, and Memet Okur. To aid the situation, rumors have been circulating that the Jazz might bring in defensive specialist Karl Malone to a coaching position. titoror posted 25 hours ago from www.nbarumors.info [link] Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NBA , Utah Jazz , Carlos Boozer , Paul Millsap , Karl Malone ...

What's the Bills situation at offensive tackle? I believe the word is "dire". Jason Peters isn't just holding out - he's built a Great Wall of Greed around him; the Bills haven't spoken with him directly since he was in for a physical in January. He's barely spoken to teammates. Nobody knows when he's going to report to the team, if he has at all. All the Bills can do at this point is let him sit and collect his paychecks; if he doesn't come back, they'll go after part of his signing bonus. For now, right tackle Langston Walker - who is dealing with a bruised forearm - is the team's left tackle, and although he's a liability against speed rushers, his play hasn't been half bad considering he hadn't played the position since his rookie season in Oakland. Journeyman Kirk Chambers has assumed Walker's spot on the right side, and though he hasn't made many mistakes, it's probably only a matter of time. The team's best backup is probably rookie seventh-round pick Demetrius Bell, the illegitimate son of NBA superstar Karl Malone who first played football in 2005. It's bad. As ill-informed and idiotic as Peters' holdout has been - he's aliented his employers, his teammates and especially his fan base - we can't wait for the guy to get back. - Brian Galliford, Buffalo Rumblings ...
