I bought an HP Laptop with built-in wireless about 3 weeks ago. I took it Home and turned it on and it found my wireless network without any problem at all (I'm using it now). If I take my computer to the office, I can see and connect to both our companies wireless networks, one secure and one unsecure, but it gives me Local Access only and will not allow me to connect to the internet. I've had my IT guys at the office verify there's not a problem with our wireless network at the office - everyone else can connect. I've also tried logging on at another office building and get the same results. I've allowed Vista to run through it's various repairing connection options - reset the adapter, reset the IP address, etc. - but still have no luck. If I leave my computer on and take it to the office, I can connect to the internet, but if I turn it off while I'm there, I get the same Local Access only with no connectivity. I've also tried a possible fix from Microsoft ( http://support.microsoft.com/KB/928233 ) but it didn't solve the problem. I'm running Vista Home Premium 64 bit. I've got a Linksys Wireless N router at Home. Can't say for sure what we've got for routers at the office. My concern is that when I go on vacation, I'm not going to be able to access any wireless connections at the hotels or airports while I'm on the road. Thanks for any help. ... Hi - I have performed some backups using a popular online backup service and I am now trying to restore some of the information using web download. I am a FIOS 15/15 customer and I have tested my download/upload and I am getting close to the full 15/15 up/down. My problem is this: Each restore file that I need to download is 3.6GB. I have 7 of them to download. I have used both IE explorer and Firefox and in every case (I have tested this about 10 times) my download stops at 2GB (each time it is exact at 2,097,155 KB). I downloaded a few of the 3.6GB restore files from my work location with no problem, but at Home on my FIOS, I cannot figure out why each download stops at exactly 2.097GB. I have checked my firewall and other things and this is driving me crazy. I even have 3-4 of the 3.6GB downloads going at 1 time, and each one of them stops at 2.097GB. Does anyone know whether FIOS has a 2GB per download cap? If not, any other ideas, this is driving me crazy! Thank you in advance. ... Source: www.dslreports.com --- 19 days ago
I apologize in advance for this being so long, I am just really frustrated right now and I need assistance. I recently moved back Home and my parents have Mediacom Online MAX. I noticed straight away that I cannot even connect to any game servers (I play CSS, well...I used to), and that the download speed are extremely poor (max of 100 KB/s). I tested my internal network and nothing seems to be amiss. I connected directly to the cable modem itself and I did some traceroutes which you can find here: http://img103.imageshack.us/my.php?image=tracert1nq7.jpg http://img361.imageshack.us/my.php?image=tracert4ug5.jpg http://img231.imageshack.us/my.php?image=tracert2qo4.jpg I called up the tech support on Monday and a very friendly technician named Brandon said he saw the very high pings as well. He also commented that the signal itself looked very strong and was not encountering any packet loss. He did agree though that there WAS a problem and suspected possibly a faulty modem. He scheduled a tech to come out today (Friday)and the tech was supposed to bring a different modem to troubleshoot all possible options. Today, Jeff the tech shows up, doesn't call in advance, just rings the doorbell. He instantly goes to www.speedtest.net and says the internet looks fine and asks the problem. I proceed to explain that even though the speed test says it is fast enough, the connection is poor and it won't sustain that high speed. I then show him the tra ...
