  Marion Concert Band will conclude its 2008 season on Monday, Aug. 18, with a concert featuring the music of film composer John Williams and the Boston Pops Orchestra. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Robert Broomhead Bandstand, Island Wharf, located off Front Street. The program is under the direction of Tobias Monte.   Philip Sanborn, of Marion, is the featured euphonium soloist. Sanborn is chairman of Tabor Academy Music Department. He holds a bachelor of music degree from the University of Michigan. He is currently the music director of the Tri-County Symphonic Band. As a trombonist and euphonium player, Sanborn has performed with the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra, Ocean State Lyric Opera Orchestra, Rhode Island Civic Chorale Orchestra, The Bass-Wingate’s Band (British Brass Band), Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra, Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra, New Bedford Symphony Orchestra, Tri-County Symphonic Band, Marion Concert Band and the American Band of Providence, R.I. As a jazz trombonist, Sanborn has performed both locally and internationally, including at the Montreaux (Switzerland) Jazz Festival. He has appeared with Cab Calloway, Julius La Rosa, Bobby Vinson, Duke Bellaire Big Band (Bovi’s, East Providence, R.I.), John Allmark, Tony Giorgiani’s Jazz Odyssey, White Heat Swing Orchestra, Ken Hadley Big Band and many others.
