ESPN's Paul Kuharsky is reporting that Reggie Williams is likely to be placed on the PUP list due to a knee sprain. This is another blow to the Jags receiving core after Jerry Porter will not participate in the preseason. This brings up more questions about the team's timing and workouts. Will Matt Jones now see an even more increased role in the preseason? Will longshot John Broussard now have a better shot of making the team because of more reps? We shall see. ... The Jaguars released five players to trim the roster to the 75-man limit. Included in Tuesday’s cuts were veterans WR John Broussard and TE Isaac Smolko and first-year players DE Alex Boston, WR Clyde Edwards and WR Jeron Harvey. http://jaguars.com/news/article.aspx?id=7174 Sad to see Smolko and Broussard go, but they have been jars on the shelf for way too long and outlasted their shelf lives. As far as in the final round of cuts, unless some drastic things to occur, D'Juan Woods, Troy Williamson, and Todd Bouman will be looking for new teams. ... Source: www.boxxet.com --- 46 days ago

Funds from the $12.5 million United States Department of Agriculture loan have still not been released to Morehouse General Hospital. “We had hoped to close last week,” said hospital CEO Cheryl Faulkenberry at the regular board meeting Tuesday night. The hurricane delayed loan processing, and John Broussard, USDA Business and Cooperative Program Director announced the loans should be closed by September 30. The hospital’s board of directors received word that the loan should close the week of September 22. Kenny Guillot of Merrill Lynch investment firm spoke with the board about safe investment options for the USDA funds, pointing out the need “to hold cash in a general fund type of account.” “When you get above $100,000 in a cash account, it’s not FDIC insured,” Guillot said. “You want it to be safe.” Guillot pointed out that more risk comes with a higher chance of yield, so the suggested investments are low-yield but very safe. The same firm handles the hospital’s retirement funds and made a $250,000 profit for the funds this year through diversification. James Allbritton said the hospital had a $121,000 loss in July as part of the financial report. Allbritton pointed out that summer months are not normally profitable for hospitals and said he expects to see a turn around in the fall. According to him, the hospital shows “substantial improvement” when compared to previous years. “All in all, things are still looking good,” Allb ... Source: www.bigcatcountry.com --- 36 days ago
It was hot. I was drunk. The Titans killed us, slowly. It was hard to tell what was happening through the haziness of too much beer and too much heat, but I can remember LenDale White and Chris Brown running the ball, all day. That's all I remember. Besides John Broussard's exceptional diving catch, all else was dismal. And the Jags lost the season opener to the Titan's last year. This year the rivalry returns. Same game, different location (a hostile one.) I was recently quite happy to hear the response of a Steelers fan when I asked if they (Burgh fans) considered the Jags a rival. "Of course!" he replied. How nice! We've managed to ruffle the feathers of an NFL stalwart. Well, Tennessee is to us, as we are to Pittsburgh. In 1999, they crushed our glass slippers as we were waltzing into the Super Bowl, and last year they rained on Garrard's opening day parade as the new starting quarterback. So who's gonna crash the party this year? Will our offensive line keep the Titan pitbulls at bay, or will they sink their teeth into our offense? Will Vince Young throw more passes for completions to Jaguar defenders than Titan wideouts? At this point, God only knows. But I can't freakin' wait! Pray for the Jaguars tonight as your head hits the pillow and keep Big Rich in mind. Hopefully he'll be recovering, with eyes open watching his brothers-in-arms battle our most hated opponents.
