Dolphins linebacker Joey Porter was outspoken in his belief that he forced a fumble by Schaub on Houston's game-winning drive though officials didn't rule it that way. But head coach Tony Sparano declined to give his view on the play. ...

Filed under: Dolphins , Texans , AFC East , AFC South Really, I don't know what to say about this game. The Texans are playing some maddening, inexplicable ball this year. Today, they ended up winning despite themselves and because of themselves. If you want to read a normal summation of the game, check out the AP report . If you want to read the relieved quote sheet from the Texans owner, coach and players, check out this . This game is an illustration of why fans should always always always stay until the end. Here's my running commentary of select plays at the end of this game: With 6:08 left in the game, Houston is forced to kick a 42 yard field goal to be up 23-21. At the Miami 36 with 3:18 on the clock, Chad Pennington throws an interception picked off by safety Eugene Wilson . Instead of sitting down, Wilson runs towards the endzone but fumbles at the 27. My brain almost explodes. Fortunately, I had consumed a slight amount of alcohol that thinned my blood enough to prevent a full blown Scanners event. The Texans defense is so horrific that they allow Miami to score a touchdown in only 5 plays and in 1:19 seconds. 28-23. Boooo!!!!! But wait, this leaves 1:45 on the clock. Keep hope alive and all that nonsense. In the first play of the drive, Joey Porter sacks Matt Schaub for -8 yards. Ew, but strangely typical of the Texans 2:00 minute drill. But Schaub redeems himself with a 20 completion in the next play. On third down, ...

The Miami Dolphins dropped to 2-3 after a frustrating 29-28 loss to the Texans yesterday. When the Fins defense caught two early interceptions and Patrick Cobbs scored a 53-yard and an 80-yard touchdown, and it seemed like Joey Porter was going to turn Texans left tackle Duane Brown into his own personal hand-puppet and have himself a career day, and we took that early 14-3 lead, we all figured we could just sit back, relax and enjoy the show. Then the Dolphins’ weaknesses kicked in. And they kicked in hard and often. And hard. And often. First off, there's the special teams. Holy titty-fuck does this unit suck! The Dolphins coverage team gift wrapped that win for the Texans with a pretty little bow, while taking a shit in a box and FedExing it to us, the fans. Simply put, Houston’s Jacoby Jones' 70-yard touchdown return was the difference in this game. No question. He doesn't take it to the house, Miami wins. Period. ...

So many plays, so many ways this game could have been won, but instead was lost. Renaldo Hill's dropped interception. The officials' decision not to review Joey Porter's hit on Matt Schaub. Andre Johnson's ridiculous fourth down catch. The quarterback draw that seemed obvious enough that even I called it before the snap. Poor tackling throughout. The Texans caught some breaks, but so did the Dolphins.... including the fumbles by Andre Johnson and Eugene Wilson. And I had no problem with most of Tony Sparano's decisions. I thought it was wise to punt rather than go for it on 4th-and-1 from the Dolphins' end. I thought it was best to go for a touchdown late, rather than milk the clock and kick a field goal. I wasn't calling for Sparano to go for two after that touchdown; the Texans just would have gone for an extra point instead of the conversion, and they almost certainly would have gotten it. (In fact, the only thing that I really questioned was Sparano's decision not to challenge the spot on a David Martin catch.) So if I had to point to one factor above all others, I would point to the Jacoby Jones putn return touchdown as the critical play. The Dolphins had momentum at that point, the crowd was booing Matt Schaub, and that return (off Brandon Fields's line drive punt) got the Texans and their crowd right back in it.  That needs to be fixed. A lot has been made of the Dolphins' attempt to improve special teams during the offsea ...
