Job Growth in Canada is about “to hit a wall,” a report from Toronto-Dominion Bank warned Tuesday. The warning comes as the federal election campaign enters its final week, and Conservative Party fortunes are slipping in part due to the economic turmoil in financial markets. The report, written by economist Beata Caranci, said nearly all of the 87,000 new jobs created in the first eight months of 2008 were in the construction sector. The Boston area had the fourth fastest rate of Job Growth in July among the nation's 12 biggest metropolitan areas, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported. Employment in Boston grew just under 1 percent from July 2007, even as employment nationally fell by a tenth of a percent during this period.
