Why It's Significant: Sex and the City: The Movie was one of the most anticipated movies of the year to SATC fans and females alike, rarely does a movie live up to such hype. Watching this movie was like curing up in your sweats, poppin some popcorn and watching a marathon of the hit HBO series in the comfort of your own home and with your best friends. The plot was engaging and rolled at a tempo similar to the show, slowly drawing you in and making you not want it to end. The movie was stylish, romantic, sentimental and fun. When we return to the characters almost five years later we are introduced to Carrie and Big poised to make a big commitment, Charlotte and Harry have an addition to their family, Miranda and Steve facing a potential breakdown of their marriage and Samantha pondering if a long-term relationship is something she truly wants. The cast is dead on, each embracing all the elements that have made them who we know. Gabriel Simmers Gress was born at 12:30 p.m. Monday, April 14, 2008, and died at 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2008, in Hershey Medical Center. His parents, Jessica, 27, and Tim, 29, knew there was a possibility he wouldn’t make it due to severe birth defects but were unaware of the rare diagnosis that doctors would spring on them the day he was born. Gabriel suffered from Cornelia de Lange Syndrome (CdLS), a rare congenital disease that affects roughly 1 in 10,000 to 30,000 babies born. “We knew there was a problem three months before he was born,” said Jessica Gress. “The doctors saw the physical deformities, but there was no diagnosis. The disease is so rare it’s not the first thing doctors think of. We had an amniocentesis done and all of the chromosomes looked normal.” “It’s a mutation on one gene, one chromosome,” added her husband, Tim. Tim Gress, a crew leader at Martin’s Food Market in Wayne Heights, said he believes everything, both the good and the bad, happens for a reason. “We decided Gabriel wasn’t going to die in vain,” he said. “Even if he wasn’t going to be here, we were going to do something for the children who have this.” The couple has arranged a benefit concert with their close friends, members of the Boro Boogie Pickers, to get the word out locally abo ...
