The work Maarten Volders has done for his Jazoon 08 presentation is fantastic , really. Rarely do I see (or check out later) a presentation that is both really engaging and also informative, but this is just that. ( Neal Ford can do it, "tick" and "tap" can do it, Bruce Johnson can do it, Romain Guy can do it, Cooper has some good stuff too - but most people end up with presentations that are way too dry for my taste - whether or not they have solid technical details.) Also see his write up of the experience , that's very good as well. ... Source: blogs.sun.com --- 49 days ago
This wiki page has the agenda and the slides for the presentations given during the GlassFish Day at the Jazoon conference earlier this week. Audio for some of the session should be released on the GlassFish Podcast in the next few weeks. We had a nice, participating crowd throughout the day. I'd like to thank all the speakers for making their presentation different from the Jazoon one. All the talks had many good questions but I'd say Jersey, Comet/IceFaces, JavaEE, and v3 triggered the most. IceFaces' Ted Goddard did a comprehensive Comet presentation as well as the SailFin demo with a page of all the SIP phones registered updated on the fly. Paul Sandoz had a demo-mostly session on JAX-RS/Jersey that went very well. Roberto Chinnici had a good feedback session on JavaEE. Interestingly OSGi as a developer-exposed API didn't trigger any interest from this crowd. In Jerome's v3 talk, only 5 people or so had seen a GlassFish v3 demo before. Sometimes we take for granted that most people have seen the various JavaOne keynotes and associated screencasts. Overall 45-minute sessions worked well (thanks to all the speakers for making it work). We stayed on track for the entire day (9am-3pm). Oh and by the way, the conference had great Wifi (worth noting as I never had this at any conference). Finally some interesting statistics from the participants: • Half of the attendees were GlassFish users. • 80% of all the attendees use Java EE 5 (the ... Source: blogs.sun.com --- 47 days ago

The Jazoon conference ends today. I regret that I couldn't be there. They accepted my proposal for lab session by I had to cancel it. I was really looking forward to give the talk again at Jazoon. And I wanted to see how they improved the conference from last year when it appeared for first time. I was looking forward to meet Carol Hamer who agreed to be proctor in the lab (I stole some code from her book "Creating Mobile Games: Using Java ME Platform to Put the Fun into Your Mobile Device and Cell Phone" for the lab Actually, she approved me the usage of the code then it means I didn't steal it, right?) But I cannot attend. No money, no fun. It seems that the Jazoon conference occupies really bad date. It is end of fiscal year. Vacations and summer are starting. And the next year it will be even worse when the Javaone conference will move to June. ... Source: www.moreover.com --- 57 days ago

Jazoon 2008 will be starting shortly (June 23 - June 26), and you'll have several opportunities to learn about Ajax Push at the conference: GlassFish Community Day (a free event) The Jazoon talk AJAX Push for Revolutionary Enterprise Applications The mimacom stand in the exhibition. mimacom ag has a great deal of experience building enterprise applications, and is now a strategic ICEsoft partner . The beginning of this partnership can be seen in an interactive locking demo that we have put together for Jazoon. The essential idea is to build collaboration features through the mimacom edoras lock manager and ICEfaces Ajax Push. The demo allows multiple users to edit and lock records in a common data set. Besides being able to see changes to the data in real time they can also negotiate locks through chat and lock operations right within the application. The locking demo will be featured in the Jazoon talk and at the mimacom exhibition stand (where you can learn how to apply edoras and ICEfaces to build a complete application). For GlassFish Community Day, I plan to demonstrate WebMC and possibly the new SIP telephony demo. ... Source: blogs.sun.com --- 4 days ago

After a short hiatus, the GlassFish Podcast has two new episodes from a presentation delivered at the recent GlassFish Day at the Jazoon conference . The speaker is Andreas Egloff (a fellow editor on TheAquarium), and the topics are OpenESB and Project Fuji . Episode #13 covers the existing OpenESB technology and community building on top of JBI and serving as a foundation to the JavaCAPS SOA offering from Sun, while Episode #14 covers the future of the project with GlassFish v3, OSGi, JBI and a DSL. The podcast has the traditional syndication link , a one-click subscribe link for iTunes , but you can also simply search for "glassfish" on the iTunes online store if that's your software of choice. ...

Jazoon conference will happen in the week of June 23rd - I've been there last year and it was quite nice. We are doing a FREE NetBeans day event on Monday, here's the agenda . Note that I am going to discuss web development during the first presentation in case you'd miss this topic. Although the NetBeans event is free you need to register . Maybe you're undecided and you are not sure if the event is worth attending, in that case you can read a review of this week's NetBeans day in Ankara from an Eclipse user - the event is not only for NetBeans community but also for people who use other IDEs because we discuss many technology-oriented topics such as profiling, JPA, different desktop frameworks, Java ME, JavaFX, etc. :) ... I’ll be talking as a co-speaker with David Nuescheler at Jazoon next thursday, on the revenge of the weblog in 15 minutes. The talk description still mentions microjax, but that’s dead, it’s the Sling client library now. No conceptual changes though, that’s mostly a renaming. I’m working on the Sling JST templates this week, as the [...] ... Source: weblogs.goshaky.com --- 60 days ago
If you are following dev.day.com you have probably seen it already: I will speak next Wednesday at Jazoon conference in Zürich about REST, AJAX and WebForms 2.0. If you are interested in building interactive and standards-compliant web sites and web applications, I would be happy to meet you there. Btw. I originally planned to call this post "Ten reasons why you will hate not being in Zürich next week", but I decided one uber-catchy headline per week is enough. ... Második nap: It ... Source: www.stucharlton.com --- 63 days ago
